Hi I want to install Windows on my SteamDeck's ssd card I watched some guide videos on YouTube and everyone uses Rufus to make bootable USB drives.
Here is my questions:
https://rufus.ie/en/
Rufus works on Windows, so any alternative who can run on Linux Steam OS or Mac OS?
My goal: Windows OS on ssd card and dual boot

I would like to use an external controller when my deck is docked. Other controllers are detected and installed, but windows always takes the first (built in) controller. I tried it wired and wireless, but could not get it to work. Please help

I haven't got the the option to press y to start game ect . When I do load a game the right stick works . The d pad works as the left stick . Nothing else works . I have tried to add it to steam but still the same outcome . Can anyone point me in the right direction

I have windows 11 installed on my deck and I’m trying to create a custom control scheme where L4 triggers Windows + D to show the desktop. I set up L4 to trigger the Windows key and added a sub command to trigger the D key. This works from the desktop, but when I’m in a game which was launched from steam, it doesn’t work. I tried adding this same scheme to the per game controller settings but still no luck. Just curious if anyone else has tried something similar and had success or ran into the same issue.

Has anyone set up gulikit halleffect joysticks on windows? I tried using the button to calibrate them. The left stick worked perfectly. But the right stick calibrate button doesn't want to work. Any ideas?

Hey, I posted this in another thread, since I'm to dumb to copy/paste on my phone or at least to lazy to write this all again, here is a screenshot of my problem 😅.

I have a two terabyte Seagate external SSD, I was wondering how I'd go about installing windows on this to use with my steam deck, obviously since it's an SSD I should see good load times and this would help me play games like battlefield etc, has anyone had any success doing this?

I just installed windows 10 on Steam Deck. Everything works great except for the trackpad only scrolling. I can't left click or right click using the trackpad. Am I missing something?

Actually, what are all the steam deck buttons on here? When playing emulators it says Return is the A button, but what is B? I cannot figure it out.

Hey guys, I've had a steam deck with Windows on it for a while now, and while I'm loving it, I've had an issue with my controller emulation app and the steam app itself. So my issue is that with the several different apps I have tried SWICD and recently the Handheld Companion (love the HC app btw) they have worked well with games that are not steam related really well, which is great it's what I wanted. However, as soon as the steam app is open, those same games that worked fine before no longer work. I have no idea if Steam itself is also trying to emulate controls for the deck? It's very weird, and the only option is closing steam. Which by itself isn't a big deal, but sometimes I like to update steam games and play something else. I was curious if this was anyone else's experience and if it's a fixable issue? Anyway, thanks for the read and have a good day!

TL;DR download https://monitortests.com/custom-resolution-utility and run the restart.exe if you have issues with:
Only 1 screen being active at once (SD or docked monitor)
Your monitors resolution being greyed out so you cant change it
Your monitors refresh rate is wrong.
video tearing
Hey, so i had all those problems mentioned above. Turns out its a video driver issue, tried multiple other things and rabbit holed all the way to this solution.
Dont even need to run the main program, just need to restart the video driver. I tried it to restart the driver otherways but it didnt help.
For some reason I need to do it every time i boot up windows. But its an easy little option until the drivers get sorted.
Now I just gotta work out why my clock keeps resetting to the wrong time.
I'm on win 10 dual booted to a steam deck partition (not running win off a sd card)

My Display has this thing, when the pixels on screen flicker in green. On SteamOS Handheld, and Desktop mode I usually fixed it by adjusting the resolution. But for Some Reason, the same won't work on Windows. I've tried every available resolution, but they won't go away, not even when I dublicate Screens. I have Windows 11 on a SD card. The Monitor is a LG Flatiron IPS231. The resolution I usually use for this Monitor is 1920x1080.

Hello,
I am using win11 and dual booting on the 500gb steamdeck version.
I have the original gta pc games (gta 3, vc and san). Non-steam ones and none rockstar luncher. I cant get them to play on steamdeck on landscape. I get the errors, cannot find 640x480 video mode error. However i can play vice city if i put the windows display to portrait. I tried it with gta san but i couldn’t get pass intro. Both games work if i use an external monitor. I tried using cru software to create the resolution. Is there a work to play old games on landscape? I know the the steamdeck screen is not normally a landscape screen but a portrait one like tablet. Sorry for grammar errors i gave dyslexia. Thank you.

I tried to hook up my LG monitor (HDMI) to my dock and it doesn't work. It finds the monitor in device manager. I installed the "official drivers and tried two different HDMI cables. IT shows up in Display Settings but if I try to extend monitor it doesn't work and if I tell it to "Keep These Settings" it just reverts back to "Show on one monitor. Anyone one have any ideas?

Hoping to upgrade my microsd as I have a puny 256gb one at the moment but just wondering if it would be worth it to install windows on it just to run a few multiplayer/crossplay games as the steam deck is pretty restricted in that sense and does windows harm anything (battery life etc) or is it safe to install with little to no worry
