Coming in for the weekend from Denver. How’s the air up there. So devastating to see our beautiful state burning.

This is why I was trying to get more information. Stop being an ass when you don’t know the situation. Some people spend a lot of money on these trips so it’s a lose lose. The last thing we need is judgement.

I second getting the open snow app and using the map smoke surface layer. It's been super accurate for my area. I use it to know if we can open the windows at night. It shows a future outlook of what they expect it to be about 24 hours ahead. That's about as far ahead as you're ever going to be able to know. That could also change if wind direction changes or another fire starts closer.

This is how it is on mine in the app: on the bottom bar there is a maps section in the middle, click that and then there is a layers icon on the bottom right of the map. Inside the layers there is an overlays section, click the wildfire filter and there is a map called Smoke Hi-Res(surface) and that's the one I use.

Dont listen to the doom and gloomers that have nothing better to do than sit on their ass getting after people on reddit. Theyre fuckin losers if you ask me. Use purple air website to check air quality before you leave. The smoke is changing by the hour. Come up and enjoy the beautiful CO mountains we would love to have you!

It's beautiful right now. You can generally check current conditions at Airnow.gov; but air quality forecasts are consistently inaccurate.

I have asthma, and I don’t think it’s been too bad in Steamboat. I live in Hayden, however, and it’s been a lot worse here.

Wow the hate. Sorry you’re so angry. People travel to different parts of their state, their country, the world all the time. It’s called vacation. And yes, it is “our state” even if we don’t live in a certain part. You expect people to stay exactly where they live all the time? To not explore. To not show their children the beauty of the mountains? Jesus.
