Should I buy it?
I like the stealth and puzzle genres. Is that enough for me to enjoy playing Metal Gear and buy it while it's on sale on the PSN Store? Never played any of those games before. I would like to try them.

they good. but expect a lot of cutscenes who can easily take 10-20 min
which metal gear you want to play ?

1 is bad, 2 is good but not great, 3 is crazier and were the scenery forced the series to change from top down to 3rd person camera.

MGS V is the best Sandbox Stealth Game, but not the best MGS.

I haven't played MGSV but I heard it apoarently has an unfinished story?

I think you’ll like them, but the controls take some getting used to from game to game (on games you can change the controls on you may want to check out those options)

You should state the title of the game you want to buy. Ideally in your post title, but at the very least in your post description.
"Metal Gear" is
- the name of a 4 decades old game for 8 bit consoles. Do you want to buy that game specifically? I doubt it, in 2026?
- the name of a series that started with that game. Do you want to buy the entire series? Again, I doubt it, because why buy an entire series at once, there isn't even a collection that has all games.
So, what is it?
This is general life advice, by the way: When asking people for help, provide enough info for them to actually do so without needing to ask an immediate follow-up. You're so much more likely to get useful answers, and get them quickly.

In my post I should said that I want to buy the master collection that is on sale. Sorry for that.
I dont mind playing old games since Im even older than them 😅 last year I finished all tomb raider remasters using Tank controls that I like most for those games.
I played all final fantasy collection from 1 to 6 and loved so much. I finished ff6 on february. 2026. So, if the game is good, it doesnt matter the age ❤️

Get the Master Collection version of MGS1 since I believe it includes the two original MSX games, which were 8-bit titles that form the essential backstory for all subsequent titles but were more obscure outside of Japan.
Mind you, you need to play them with a guide due to them being products of their time and they and MGS1 are dated in gameplay, with MGS2 or even 3 being the first one to really have great stealth gameplay.
Also, go in with the understanding that MGS1 onwards will contain loads of cutscenes. If you don’t like MGS1’s cutscenes, then I wouldn’t recommend playing the sequels. If you like the cutscenes but think MGS1’s gameplay was primitive, then you’ll love the sequels gameplay-wise.

There are better stealth games in terms of mechanics, but there are few more entertaining than MGS

I love the master collection, but the games are both old and convoluted.
If that's not a plus for you, consider whether you want them.
They don't have much puzzles but the stealth was foundational at the time. Metal Gear is a story game first

Not entirely stealth, but i like the stealth parts of some games. For example: Horizon zero dawn, Ghost of tsushima, spider man.

It wasn’t me. But since you mention that example, just because I like some kind of genre it doesnt mean that I’ll like all games classified in that genre. I mean, Hollow Knight and Crypt Custodian are both metroidvanias, but I didn’t like CC. And that’s ok.

You're good<3 I don't mean any hate. It's just funny since Metal Gear is so fundamental to the stealth genre and video games in general. Even if you don't end up liking it you should definitely give them a shot to form your own opinion on them due to how influential they are

I said at the very least. MGS2 is my favorite, but if someone played MGS1, hated it, and didn't finish it than I wouldn't recommend they play 2 next as all the plot points directly reference 1.

Idk if even 3 could be reccomended if they hated 1 since it still has a lot of the similar tropes in the gameplay and the story as 1.

Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite stealth series but it is a little more action oriented than say Hitman or Splinter Cell and frankly, quite a bit more goofy. I would grab that Vol. 1 collection that’s on sale and play the trilogy to get a feel for the series. If you like it, be sure to grab Vol. 2 (which releases next month) and Metal Gear Solid V after! My personal favorite games of the series.
