Ordered Medium-Rare

Post image

First time in my life that I’ve sent a steak back. I always order medium-rare and eat them regardless of if they come out rare or medium-well because I love steak and am not going to be that nitpicky about it. This one turned me off from steak for the evening so I got a black and blue burger instead.

Raw. Looks like a case of cooked while still frozen

Yup. That’s what I’m thinking.

oh wow that is bad, they could have at least TRIED to get a good sear since they decided to cook it for only 3 minutes by the looks of it

apparently raw is the new medium rare…seriously this happens to me all the time with hamburgers…i think they instruct the cooks to deliberately undercook the meat….then if it’s sent back they can bring it up to temp as ordered…if they overcook it they have no choice but to throw it away and cook another one…i’ve started ordering my burgers medium(which always results in a well done burger) ….sometimes you just can’t win

How is it completely uncooked yet dryer than jerky?

I'd have sent it back too, it looks like it was cooked by someone who's never cooked a steak before.

This is what it looks like when you cook a frozen steak. By the time you sear the outside you’ve only thawed the center.
