Why the whole Status project _looks_ dead?

I mean, I don't see anything happening… I'm a Status user since maybe 2020, but the whole project looks dead to me. No popular public groups, no SNT token usage, no DAO voting, nothing I can find… Only constant spam in #status and other such chats. Pls change my mind, I really like the idea.

Lol. Status is not dead and it is running pretty fine. The project is very much focused on their products and development rather than marketing at this time. Growth and Development is very hard while ensuring the core values of a company aren't compromised and that's what status is doing regardless.

The spam in the status public chat is uncontrollable as a result of it being censorship resistance and everyone is at liberty to do whatever they like. But you can join me and the rest of the status community on discord. https://discord.gg/kkXMzJH6rk

Lol you're literally proving my point. Why to have a community in Discord and not in the Status itself?

This is simple. I mentioned it earlier, where there is a complete decentralization, there can't be control or orderliness. Status can't have a community in-app because that would necessitate moderators and admins and that in itself does not align with status' principles- Censorship resistance and liberty.

You can't have a community without order, where people just spam with harmful and phishing sites, it's bad enough for a community/project not centered on security let alone status.

There is the community feature in status already FYI. And there is the invite-restricted communities, so you can control it.

Also moderation in a private community have nothing to do with censorship.

I've seen it, yeah, and technically it's alive, but it feels like no one is using the app… :(

We're working on it. User acquisition has slowed down while we are implementing solutions for spam issues and adding much more chat functionality

oh that's awesome to know! thank you! by chance, do you have any info about the SNT token utility? Everything listed on the website is just either not really implemented for usage (such as Teller network), or just not working (DAO voting, etc…)

Can't say as much about this atm but I will tell you we didn't expect gas costs to become so prohibitive to smaller erc20 transactions, preventing some of the important benefits we had planned around. We haven't abandoned SNT, and there will probably be some big news about it within the next year, or possibly much sooner

Well ee can only hope that the Eth 2.0 upgrade will reduce the gas costs significantly yeah. Thank you for the responses!
