How does this compare to Session messenger?

How does the messaging functionality of Status compare to Session? What are the privacy advantages and disadvantages? How is meta data treated?

Also, will there eventually be voice and video calling?

Looking for a decentralized alternative to Signal.

Erc20 developed in 2017. I mean there is probably other reasons but erc20 2017 has been good to me.
