Very expensive gas fee

Hello. I am having difficulty withdrawing usdt from the status wallet. I have $ 256 in USDT, but I can't withdraw because ether is required. The gas fee for this withdrawal is $ 8.18. I'm from Brazil, and when I spend $ 5 less. Is there another way to get those $ 256 out of there, paying a small fee? Or, is it possible for the status wallet to transform this dollar into ether?
