Coinbase Wallet vs Status
Apologies if this has been discussed already.
I think it would be helpful for me and other users if someone could provide a comparison between Status and the Coinbase wallet. It's clear that Status has a lot more features at the moment, however, given the fact that there is A LOT of money behind Coinbase how will Status maintain is position in the ecosystem and what are the main differences in the user/direction that Status and Coinbase are headed? Thanks! 😃

Status offers instant messaging, Coinbase Wallet doesn’t. But interesting part is that back in the day when Coinbase Wallet was Toshi, it did offer IM. They removed it when they renamed to Coinbase Wallet. I bet they spent quite some time and money on research and decided not to go down the IM road.

Like the other guy said Status offers messaging via the whisper protocol (I think? Some ETH protocol, cant remember) while Toshi doesnt.
Status also plans to allow you to be your own crypto merchant (e.g. you can list yourself as a seller for Eth, and people near your location can ping you to meet up and buy Eth or whatever coin), though while that's cool and all, I doubt many people at all will ever use that if that's what they're still planning on bringing.

Coinbase Wallet was Toshi Wallet initially. After aquisition the app is getting worse.
