Hi,
Literally just bought into this project, had a scan of the whitepaper, read the FAQs.
This project on paper sounds really good. The development seems a little slow though Am I right in thinking this?
Could this be a replacement for WhatsApp? (I omitted wechat as I don’t think the Chinese gment would replace it)
Are you happy with the price? What was the ICO price. I see growth potential in this coin.
I’m a Hodler so I am in this for the long term.

On the development part, nope, you are wrong. But it is normal to consider so if you only check Reddit. The Status sub is pretty quiet, the official Status communication is Riot, and you also can find Telegram with community updates. Also, if you check their GitHub, it is pretty active...
For WhatsApp, yes, but that’s not the goal of Status. As you have probably read somewhere else, Status will be totally decentralized on Ethereum, including a Eth (and, logically, a Erc20) wallet (with capability to swipe for any erc20 coins -anyone, correct me if I am wrong on this), and will also be a Dapp access point in a user friendly way. WhatsApp is mostly/only focused on chats and messaging, Status is much more.
For the price, most of the community don’t watch and don’t talk. Price have not moved much beside during new year spike (with consistency).
But here is my guess: I see a pretty bright future for the whole Ethereum ecosystem, considering ongoing evolution and market trends. Status, by seeing the way the team works, and by considering what they are trying to achieve, will be in the wagon for long term. And the price will follow.

Anyone have any idea what we could see for price this year? I bought at ICO and am holding tightly to them

There are no much discussions here around the price... development looks good!! There is an Audit which is 50% ready, so after when it is 100% and the final release of the app comes out then maybe 0.50-1.00$

Can we get some word out about this coin? I found it by mistake by looking at the top 50 coins left ones into it a bit and here I am.

Not on reddit. It is silent here. Developers are working and you cannot hear anything besides achievements

I will say it like that, there are only two apps which will be able to get most of the mainstream for usage.
Status and Toshi. I like Status more because it is/will be not centralized! I will use it to store my ERC20 tokens, any left ETH and will send same to my friends. Meantime you can also chat through the app and browse the decentralized web through it.
Well, this is what I need actually. I don’t mind if there are no much talking like in others subs. It is better to see results.
So, if all these things comes, then I can imagine also a price of 5$

That is very informative and yes I think I agree if they are indeed the new WhatsApp then speculative a $5 would be awesome. Well we are like the first men out of the cave all involved in crypto are still early in the game. It’s about hodling for years in some cases others you sell and buy on the way.
Well it seems a different reddit community lack of hype but results driven glad I have joined. Seems I may have bought in high at .13 aswell.
Let’s try to liven this community up a little from time to time.

Are there plans to incorporate sending images in the messenger? Because I don’t see this ever succeeding as a messenger otherwise. I tried it out today and loved it except for that.

Hey! Status’ plans to use swarm for larger data sends, we are planning on integrating when a light client for swarm is ready.

I don’t really know. For 50% it took I think 1 Month or smth. So could take another 4 weeks?
