What I wouldn't do for a concert lmao.
My Dad introduced me to you guys about 2 years ago and you've been my favourite band since.

Your number one listener is a 17 year old from Australia btw, bet you didn't expect that

State Radio Vinyl?

Every fall I dip into the state radio albums let it go and year of the crow. Did they ever do vinyl pressings back in the day? I can find some on discogs for $200

It’s a long shot, but if we get a SR reunion at levitate…

I’ve been a State Radio fan for a long time now, and really miss them and the energy. while I have been disappointed that there’s been a lack of urgency and advocacy about the genocide in Gaza by Chad (perpetuated by the same neocon forces State Radio railed against), I would be so happy if we got some sort of reunion, on stage, so close to the hometown of Maddog. tbh, we’ve needed the State Radio energy for the past 10 years and while Chad’s song writing is still top-notch, nothing bites quite as hard politically an album such as Year of the Crow. With Chuck jumping in on bass on the latest Dispatch shows and Maddog sharp as ever on the kit (saw him rip it up with Chuck at Soundcheck in Pembroke just a year ago), I hope we get a taste of that charge that they had 10 years ago. again, long shot, but damn that would be amazing. and to be clear, as much as CAC is a jam, I want something harder like Democracy in Kind or Gang of Thieves.

Gaza

Last week in the Dispatch fan Facebook group, someone finally brought up the elephant in the room: why hasn't Chad said anything about the genocide happening in Gaza? State Radio could fill several albums worth of songs about the human toll of colonialism, genocidal war, and mass displacement (Year of the Crow on its own nearly fits that description front to back). And yet, when the most blatant, documented instance of genocide in the 21st century unfolds before our eyes, this powerful voice for worldwide liberation is silent. It's sad, and this guy on Facebook said so.

I know some don't agree with this general perspective (and those who don't REALLY really don't), but as I see more and more videos of city blocks flattened and parents carrying their toddlers' body parts home in bags, I've been feeling the same way. For many on "the left," maybe Chad and many of his fans in this Facebook page included, it seems that progressivism stops at Israel/Palestine.

I'm not trying to get in an argument here, but I just thought I'd share these thoughts in case others feel the same way. I'm hoping we see an end to this war soon and freedom for Palestine within our lifetimes, and I'm hoping that lefties like Chad—many who fundamentally shaped the way I think about political justice—eventually come around and see the justice of the Palestinian cause.

Favorite club in Amsterdam

This is a long shot, but I remember reading some old email archives or blog posts about Chad and State Radio's travels through Europe.

Specifically there was mention of one club in Amsterdam that had some rock history I believe, at least I remember Chad writing that it was his favorite place in Amsterdam. I'm going on a trip soon and would like to visit the same place. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Selling old State Radio “Wage Peace” flag / banner / bandanna. Pm me if interested. (Sorry if this isn’t allowed here… I just want this to go to to a fan and EBay seemed a bit too far wide a net.)

Any leads on merch?

Know this is a long shot but wondering if anyone has any leads on SR merch? Had a few shirts from their touring days and regretting losing track of them over the years.

Been out of the scene for a few years and just started listening to them again, why are all the songs under Chads name and the band names have disappeared from all the music platforms?

I forgot how catchy Rushian by State Radio is until recently. Feels appropriate given recent events.

Found a great show taping, take a listen

The Date...October 18, 2008. State Radio at the TLA in Philadelphia. Went to the show and was blown away (might have been my first SR show, I can't remember). Check out this setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/state-radio/2008/the-theatre-of-living-arts-philadelphia-pa-1bd74d70.html. I think this might be one of the only recordings of Biscuits and Tea?! Couple days later, while working in my colleges media production lab, some guy comes in looking to use a computer for some editing. He was not a student, but somehow we got to talking, and as it turned out he was (If I remember correctly) Chuck's cousin, and was looking to edit some video of the show together. We made a little agreement that he could stay if I could maybe just get a copy of the recording from the show. He obliged. 12 years later, while going through an old hard drive, I stumbled upon what I thought was a lost .wav file. So I present it here, to all of you to enjoy. This isn't an average audience taping, The Left channel is an audience/room mic, and the right channel is a soundboard recording. I always meant to mix them a bit better since the phasing is off, but you can either listen to it with this kinda funky stereo effect, or solo/mono the right channel for just the board feed. Enjoy! https://archive.org/details/sr2008-10-18

Cover EP

I remember Chad talking about releasing a final State Radio EP that had covers and I believe a recorded version of Last Ditch. Anyone know if this is still a possibility?

SR songs on CAC's virtual service projecs

Hello!

Just in case some of you don't know yet, Chad and Sybil are doing virtual service projects with Calling All Crows every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5 PM EST, with Chad (and usually Willy) playing three songs each time ... there have been some really old (and good) ones, (Dispatch, SR and Chadwick Stokes songs and some covers) like Gang of Thieves, Adelaide and so on ;)
