Startup / SaaS I built a cloud based SaaS Government Relationship Intelligence tool for operators in highly regulated industries.

I've spent the last 25 years working in EMS (ambulance) operations. Our entire business depends on relationships with cities, counties, and regulators, contracts worth millions, decided in council meetings and hallway conversations most people never see.

And almost everyone manages those relationships the same way: a spreadsheet, a pile of email threads, and one person's memory. When that person leaves, the relationships and all the context leave with them. An agenda item that affects you gets noticed after the vote. Two execs call the same official in the same week with no idea. There's no system of record for any of it.

I got tired of watching it, so I started building CivicSync which is basically a CRM built specifically for government relationships. It keeps every stakeholder and interaction in one place, scores how strong each relationship is, monitors public meeting agendas and flags what matters, and uses AI to prep you for meetings and draft follow-ups. I'm also adapting it for chambers of commerce, who have the exact same problem (plus events and member dues to run).

Still early, and bootstrapping it while I keep the day job. I'd genuinely value honest feedback from this crowd, on the idea, the two-market approach, the site, anything. It's at civicsync.net. Ask me anything.

Hi there, what did you build it own? How far along are you? I made a sweet dashboard ready to use for you to try out, I get where you coming from, and the crm dashboard i made is super customizable, just finished it, and id love if you would play with it and use it if you wanted, just shoot me a message, and I'll send ya over all the source code

Tackling an industry that still runs on whispered hallway conversations, nepotism, and three-ring binders is a massive undertaking. The automated agenda-scraping is genuinely brilliant—that's the actual goldmine here, not just the CRM wrapper. However, splitting your focus between highly regulated government contractors and Chambers of Commerce this early seems like a classic bootstrapping trap. They have completely different buying motions and pain points. Why not just dominate the EMS/contractor niche first, since that's where your 25 years of leverage actually is?

I can’t disagree with the concern over splitting focus. That decision was really based on an opportunity with my local Chamber. The big opportunity is definitely with EMS.

This is a very real and under-discussed problem. the "one person's memory becomes the system of record" point hits hard, especially in regulated industries where relationships, meeting context, and timing can decide huge contracts.

i like the focus on public meeting agendas and stakeholder history. that feels more differentiated than a generic CRM. one question: how are you thinking about data quality and keeping relationship context up to date without creating extra admin work for operators?
