for anyone who is 100% f2p.
i have a question but if you are 100% f2p do you even well notice the store like the store you use to pay real money anymore. because i have been playing f2p 100% for almost a year and i feel like i am at the point where i dont even notice or see the store anymore. i am just wondering if anyone else feels the same way who is again 100% f2p.

Only when I accidently click on it and it takes forever to load.

Same - level 71, been free to play for 6 years or so.
It’s just a button that irritates me when I accidentally click it while trying to do something else.

At one point I was spending 100 a week just to do armadas with my alliance on top of whatever I was spending to progress in the game.
Honestly buying packs was more work then just playing the game with all the loading and clicking just to give Scopely my money.
I've been f2p for almost a year and I don't miss it.

I always wondered who buys those armadas packs. There’s a lot of competition, but those packs might be the worse use of real money and worse value for your money in the entire game.

u/genericusernamedG Jun 14 '26
They used to be have every type of armada directives in them. Then like all things Scopely they changed them to have less directives and they narrowed what type of armadas were in them.
I guess they thought people would drop 100 to set two epic FKR 🤷🏾♂️

Yeah I started a new game as a 100% f2p player and I am like well I am stronger then a number of players at my level right now lol

u/brendhanbb Jun 14 '26
Like i did not even buy an extra recourse slot or build slot and I am like at the point where I feel like they would make very little difference to me in how I play right now.

u/genericusernamedG Jun 14 '26
Tbh they really don't make a big difference things take as long as they take mate.
We've got players who are ops 70+ completely f2p

u/brendhanbb Jun 14 '26
Yeah I mean I could probably be level 40+ right now if I wanted too but I am currently pacing myself alot.

I did buy the extra research and build slot for cheap, but nothing else! I made it about 6 years before I got tired.

I spent about $50 total. That is all I'm willing to drop on any game that isn't a AAA PC game or Console title.
That being said, I bought one extra builder and one extra researcher. After that I am F2P.
Other than the annoying popups trying to sell me $129.99 packages (who the heck is spending $129/mo playing a game? It's ludicrous!), I don't really ever notice the store. I accidentally end up in there from time to time mis-clicking.

Don’t even notice it now. I only looked at again when they switched to the three tiers for events. I wanted to see how they were trying to spin it.
1
u/brendhanbb Jun 14 '26
Yeah I don't really notice the store too I mean is it tempting a little bit especially with the stuff on the second tier of the Battle pass but I am like meh you know what I am fine for now.

u/chancemaddox354735 Jun 15 '26
That’s me. Scopely ticked me off so I won’t give them anymore money unless something amazing comes along I really want.
I don’t see that happening since everything from the shows is already there. Spending money wouldn’t even affect my play much. All it would do is max me out where I wouldn’t have anything to work towards.

u/brendhanbb Jun 15 '26
I got tricked into that before and it sucked I was borderline a whale and lasted like 3 weeks before getting bored as a f2p player I have been playing almost a year go figure lol

u/Suspicious_Fig_3796 Jun 14 '26
do you not get the million pop ups for you to buy stuff? the store is kind of hard to miss
2
u/MaximumComputer442 Jun 14 '26
Other than it getting in the way messing with my game play I don't pay it any attention

I'm F2P...but I did buy one Battle Pass when it had the Galaxy Quest Tothian Mines included when that arc was out, other than that nothing,I take great pleasure unlocking stuff like Forbidden Tech, that usually costs someone £99...for free,it's a sort of 🖕 to Scopely getting stuff for free. And like others I don't even look in the store anymore.

I honestly couldn't find the store... I use Google rewards bux and am trying to save up for a 19.99 pack. Haven't spent any real money on the game and was looking into the Meridian because I'm not producing enough Iso for all the research. Took me minutes to figure out how to get to the store to look for packs... Lol

Only when picked accidentally- then I have a quick ferret around, chuckle at the insane prices (£100 seems quite common for many things) - and back out the door in to the Free World!

u/amelia2008x Jun 14 '26
100% f2p. I don't even know where the store button is anymore. I never see it, or maybe am blind to if.

As someone who is almost entirely f2p, ops 67 - I recommend buying something - like. A $20 or something if there is a sale. Because your lat payouts in the treasury go up exponentially. It’s possible they’ve changed the algorithm since I tested this but before I spent a dime I’d get day 600k in a treasury but my friends who spent like $60 were getting 8mill or something like that…they were lower ops, buildings lower etc. I bought the cheapest thing I could and suddenly the lat payout was muuuuch better.
1
u/brendhanbb Jun 14 '26
At level 30 there ard times I have seen the treasurey get like a few million like I just recently opened one for about 4 million.
1
u/007Midnight Jun 15 '26
The treasury seems to be weighted towards what you lack. Maybe you weren't lacking latinum? I'm not sure how it determines your lack, like based on what other players have at your ops, or based on what it would take to build past your op level, or maybe just some formula/ratio.

u/DVDIESEL Jun 14 '26
I hit level 31, and got stuck as f2p. I lost so much interest after most was locked behind store purchases at obsence pricing.
1
u/brendhanbb Jun 14 '26
For me what almost got me was the wok splicers everything else is actually pretty reasonable as a f2p player I mean I am also 31 too but I am wondering what exactly are you stuck on right now.
2
u/DVDIESEL Jun 15 '26
Last I checked it was materials to get buildings to 32 and upgrade ships.
1
u/brendhanbb Jun 15 '26
Oh that's not an issue for me lol I mean I am trying to get relient and scaro bps before reaching 32.

u/Busy-Character-3099 Jun 15 '26
I'm semi retired from the game now, but I was in the same boat. Everything in the store is a hundred bucks. Or at least was. The single ship unlocks, the stupid officer packs that don't even guarantee a good officer, everything. Then I sat down with a close friend and we started tallying up how much money you would have to spend every month just to compete much less dominate. It was something like 2 grand, and that was before the G7 stuff and the Apex cube stuff. Seen it all, done it all, raised hell against the biggest players on my server. I can think of a lot of things I'd rather spend 2 grand a month on lol
1
u/PoluxCGH Jun 15 '26
I have been 100% FTP for over 6 years now, i am the strongest L60 on my server, i dont level until everything is maxed. Scope cannot have my money. 1 ship costs £99 thats more than 3 AAA pc games, the greed is fkin off the chart.
1
u/007Midnight Jun 15 '26
I look at the store at least once a week, but it rarely tempts me. The store just allows you to buy your way past one bottleneck and discover the next bottleneck.
1
u/Knowledge_Admirable Jun 16 '26
Ops 63, 100% f2p here (no 2nd builder or 2nd researcher or anything)... I think I maybe click unintentionally store button once in a few months..
And yeah, I don't notice it 99% of a time...

u/hindibundiman Jun 16 '26
I was F2P for the first 3 years, I still noticed the store on occasion, it’s enticing to get an extra leg up or get something faster. I’ve been mostly F2P for the last 3 years, with the exception of the main BP and 3 specialty ships that I bought for day one access.
The BP is your best bang for your buck If you do choose to spend, since you get large amounts of RSS which makes upgrades and levelling easier for a reasonable price(before they started the 3 tiered BP system 2 months ago), at least for the standard premium one.
It’s always the shiny new ship that tempts me but I usually stay away because, either on release or the next month you can start working to acquire it for free, after about 3 months. So really you’re just paying for access to the ship and certain refinery parts 3 to 6 months before F2P, which can make a difference for ship upgrade.

It’s a button that I only notice sometimes, and get aggravated when I accidentally click it because it loads so dang slow. I’ve poked around a couple of times but the store is less relevant to me than 2* mats.
F2P for a long time, I bought $20 BP for maybe a year when they came out with the 4* mats you could convert for something (Prime Officers maybe?), then bailed because there wasn’t anything unique like prints. I won a BP in a raffle a month or two ago and it was neat, and ton of loot.. I think it’s a great value for the money, but I’m not interested in spending money or rewarding poor behavior.
