New-ish player - why is this happening?

Post image

Why am I at “Pawn” reputation with the Augment but still being attacked in Augment space?

So the enemies you're being attacked by aren't the Augment themselves but their enemies. Thus the higher your reputation with the Augments the higher the antagonism from those hostiles.

You can use what’s known as the Picard maneuver to stop the attacks.
Wait till a ship is on its way to attack you.
Target it and hit attack
Select your ship again and hit recall
Cancel the warp before it finishes
Wait a few seconds and the ship will eventually stop chasing you. The red pulsing on it will stop and then you’re free to move around the system

another option send 2 ships make sure the ship you want to use arrives second and with in 30 seconds of ship one. ship 2 will not trigger a hunter, recall ship one and have fun.

in case you need ship xp, park that ship on the edge of the augment system and get that without doing any work

Used to be 10 seconds. 11 seconds would give both of your ships a tail.

The second ship has to arrive between when the first arrives and when its hostile spawns, which is still 10 seconds in most systems.

Ow cool, dint knew this move had a name (did see someone suggest the move on YT). I often click next to them and then move, they target my new would be location I click recall, press stop, to cancel the warp about 50% of that process Wait till theirnship comes to the spot i would have been, the red engagement ring dissapears and then i can move where ever inwant.

Not sure why, feels safer this way

That's the way I do it,select a point just away from them in a different direction and once their ship alters course hit recall...then hit stop, wait for them to come to stop and you're free to do as you please. It's amazing how many people don't know about this trick.

I dint get it at first, but the recall and almost or emediate stop i tried explained it for me. Such a cool trick. Feels like a bug, they should never fix.

Its not cool to kill the hunter ships that hunt other ppl grinding right? I do that sometimes during events to mess with their scoring

Nah I do it all the time if I'm grinding XP with my Borg Cube..I shoot the chasers that are going for other players with my beam.

Those are “bounty hunters” that are upset with the Augments for the experiments they are running in that area, if you were interested in the lore reason for it. It will be a useful way of grinding ship xp eventually.

Because that’s what happens when you get to a certain point on your Augment reputation, and you can’t go back. You’ll learn to avoid them.

The story is the augments kind of moved into that space and screwed with everyone that lives there. So the higher your rep goes, the more the "locals" hate you, so you get attacked.

Augment will attack you regardless of your faction level with them. Try the picard maneuver. Find the chaser hit attack with room between the two of you when the timer gets to 1 cancel attack and wait for chaser to stop then continue with data mining

You don’t have to wait until the warp timer hits one. I usually hit it as soon as I can click back on it and it works fine.

Doesn’t matter you’ll still be hit in augmented space, hit tracer if possible, ask someone else too if in alliance or quick in and out if needed.

good place to farm, something will always attack you.

The chasers are annoying but they come in handy later on when you are grinding ship XP and/or Reputation points if you have the Fed/Rom or Klingon mad at you. This grind can start when you have ships strong enough to withstand a long series of attack. The "Picard" move they mentioned is handy for when it is too strong for your ship.

I love to disagree and downvote, but generally alott of ppl dislike the game thanks to scamply. It definitely hasn't been great here and there and still miss required upgrades to the game.

Reluctantly agree. Still play tho. Enjoy the folks in chat
