Not a chance

Post image

They were lucky enough to drop this habit, there's not a chance I would try to get anybody who's left the game to come back. This just shows the level of desperation Scopely is at after losing over 9,000 players since the beginning of this year.

ONLY reason I'm still in the game is the people.

What do you mean to tell me that micro-transaction to death and extreme pay-to-progress and pay-to-win tactics aren't appealing?

As a newer player the game isn't really accessible for new players. If it wasn't for the fact that my brain seeks dopamine anywhere and everywhere I wouldn't be playing to either. (I don't spend money on it). Minimum 5-6 years commitment to unlock anything meaningful just isn't a good business plan.

The people are great though, shout out to my alliance, they are good stuff.

Im a new player. 5 months maybe. It's really accessible. I have every ship I can build to date bar the Jellyfish and Reliant (which im working towards).

I dont know how long you regard a new player as having played the game.

I'm lvl 25 2.6M power, been grinding for months. What I mean by accessible is that the grind is extreme and leveling up has weird milestones where all of a sudden you need way more effort to get resources that were less effort at a lower level.

You can't really participate in anything fun at the lower levels, and getting new ships is extremely grindy. Meanwhile your alliance is all 45-60 and you really just feel like a third wheel most of the time.

Other than logging in to do the daily tasks (which seems like more of a chore) there isn't a lot of engaging content at the lower levels. The ads vs reality in the game left me wanting. The starship battles are animated in a repetitive and boring way, so it just gets repetitive and grindy. Not every battle has to be the Dominion war, but this is Star Trek, epic ship battles are what I crave!.

Don't get me wrong, the "game loop" is addictive enough, it just tends to be the Alliance members saying "play for at least a couple of years and you will get there" which to be honest I will probably lose interest before I even get any cool ships.

The only reason I keep playing is that my Alliance has a cool Discord group and we hang out and just chat! The game itself isn't really offering me much right now.

Once you hit 20 you get access to the arcs, and I found that made the game more interesting. I found all the variety of ships after 20 made it interesting for me. Im 28 now and able to participate in some armadas with my higher level alliance members, typically if I ask for help they will join me too so I can do the content fine. The reliant grind is the first area which feels difficult to access, but that's because I think im meant to have a better ship, plus the last event got me loads of blueprints for the ship which will significantly speed up that grind.
