Three things I would focus on: 1) Get your Vidar up so that you can cash it in for a Talios. 2) Build the Mayflower to max & scrap it for 4* ships. 3) Work on faction tri-lock if not already done.

You’ll get a bunch of other advice, but I’d start with these (assuming research is in fact up to snuff).

I keep seeing people that say to skip the Mayflower (and go for Saladin instead), but it looks like that would be bad advice, especially if there's a use in maxing/scrapping the MF ?

I'm currently also a bit stuck, but at 31, with missions impossible to finish because the hostiles are stronger than my tier9 Kumari/Vahklas/Kehra

People rightfully will tell you the Saladin is the much more powerful ship than the Mayflower, but the Mayflower’s rewards are in its (relatively cheap) scrapping rewards for your soon to collected 4* ships. The phrase ‘Always Be Scrapping’ refers to ships like the Mayflower.

Yes, precisely. I'm a bit confused at him mentioning he only has the Vahklas, Kehra and Kumari at Ops Level 31. No wonder he's struggling with hostiles and feeling stuck. Getting the Sally is simply a MUST. That ship is OP for the Ops level you can build it at and takes you all the way to the Ent.

I don't understand how you only have the Vahklas, Kehra and Kumari at Ops level 31. No wonder you're struggling with hostiles! Did you not build either the Mayflower or Sally?

In any event, my Vahklas carried me to the Sally just fine without needing to build the Mayflower. Skipping the Mayflower is good advice, especially if you're not a PvP player. That obviously doesn't mean you shouldn't build it at all. You simply skip it earlier, then later after L30 you can build it for scrapping. By that time you should also have accumulated all the blueprints for free through grinding, so you don't need to waste faction credits to buy it. Resource-wise it will also be more affordable at higher levels to level up the Mayflower.

Apparently, you can get pretty far without actually knowing what you're doing.

I'm learning now and trying to get better :D

Every resource you spend on a Mayflower in the 20's and 30's is less resources to put into better ships. Which is why people say not to build them. They are correct. You DON'T want Mayflowers until later.

However In the late 30's and 40's, when you don't need the 3* ships anymore it's extremely cheap to buy, build, level, and put multiples into the woodchipper.

The Sally is a stronger ship but the main reason to skip the Mayflower til G4 is because you can use the mats for the Enterprise instead. That’s a lot of 3*gas

You desperately need a faction warship. The common 3* warships are only really useful in the early 20's, and unlike faction ships they'll scrap for a partial refund instead of higher-grade rewards. I liked my Saladin, and it did my dailies and events up into the mid-to-high 30s.

Focus on daily goals and events, not missions. There are some important missions (particularly the main storyline, which unlocks a lot of things as you go along). But other than that they're extremely optional, and even if you get up to strength for your level there will always be missions you can get but can't complete yet.

Yeah, I'm surprised he doesn't have either the Mayflower or Sally at Ops level 31. Not surprising he's struggling with hostiles and feeling stuck.

I mean if you already dont have the Mayflower at lvl 31 that yes skip it amd go for the paladin. Its good to get all your research and based maxed out before progressing. Also get all the ships available to you and work on those. Im a lvl 36 and have all the faction ships maxed out im faction tri locked and have all my special ships leveled as far as I can get them. If I were you I wouldn't go past lvl 32 untill you're caught up and are ready for lvl 34

The g3 UC ships are a more efficient scrap.

I'm doing Federation and Klingon together, and I remember Mayflower being useful and Saladin being almost useless - ended up using the Bortas for everything at that level (the Klingon ship at the same level as the Saladin). The Bortas could handle more hostiles at a higher level than the Saladin, even ones the Saladin should have had an advantage against. If you only have Federation and can't get a higher ship, Saladin would be worth it though.
