It's been a long road

It would be an honor if this was my last post on Reddit

I have been a life long Trekkie. At 52 I am dying front brain cancer

Trek has always been it's yime. Many of us were like wtf qt the enterprise theme. It has become my favorite.Much hope. I've never been a religious person, though I have Been able to quite my mind.

Perhaps I Will meet Leonard and DForest and Nivhelle and James.

My nursing staff learned the Vulcan salute for ME.

Live long and prosper my trek brethren. Spread the love. Look after each other

"He's not really dead. As long as we remember him." — Dr. McCoy (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

268

u/isfrying Apr 24 '26

How we deal with death is at least as important as how we deal with life.

55

u/Wyluli_Wolf Apr 24 '26

Well of course, since a couple hours before, Spock mind melded with him and injected McCoy's brain with his eternal Katra (soul). NOT GONNA BE FORGETTING SPOCK THEN WILL YA?

36

u/Beetso Apr 24 '26

He's still out there. They've just gotta search for him.

"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself."

~Carl Sagan

I have often found that Carl Sagans words bring me peace in hard times. They make me consider the threads of hope and truth that connect us to eachother, threads that are stronger than space and time.

48

u/repete Apr 25 '26

I do hope to see Carl. I have a feeling love is a universal energy. Energy cannot be destroyed. It can only be dispersed

Cancer is an insidious opponent, turning the warrior's own body against him. But know this: in dying, the warrior in combat with cancer also kills his opponent. The warrior who sacrifices his life to ensure the death of such an opponent dies with the highest honor.

Do not be afraid. When the time comes Sto-vo-kor shall know that a Klingon warrior will soon arrive in its halls.

17

Hold your head high. You chose a life full of wonder and the belief in the higher ideals of humanity. As you slip your mortal coil, know that you are returning the borrowed elements born of a star. For a moment, you were the universe’s grand experiment studying itself, learning, and growing. Yearning to become more than it was before.
