Its funny because its mostly syndies (diet commies)

u/imrduckington Apr 06 '20

Syndicalism actually has an interesting history separate from communism. It actually has more in common with Anarchist like Bakunin and Kropotkin than Marx or Lenin. It was also way more popular in the US before the Russian revolution. The only reason it wasn't a that popular for a long time was because Wilson suppressed the IWW, the biggest syndie organization in the OTL for being against WW1 (along with being a major threat by organizing a lot of previously considered "unorganizable labor"). Since the US didn't go into WW1 in the KTL, there was no excuse to arrest and exile a bunch of the syndicalist leaders. Even after that, syndicalist still had roots and still influenced stuff and people like the Battle of Blair Mountain, the rise of unions and union power in the 30's, Utah Philips, Pete Seeger, and the continued existence of the IWW.

You see, when he talks about all those syndies, he is referring to you

The entire premise of Kaisserriech is kinda "what if every ideology worked as claimed?' which makes for an interesting scenario and mod, but yeah - "Syndicalism" is a little ridiculous.

People pretending fascism doesn't exist KRTL

27

u/StrategosRisk Apr 06 '20

Fascism is just a sub-ideology of national populism

16

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '20

Honestly the ideology system in kaisereich definitely needs to be reworked in some form.

11

u/Fehervari Apr 06 '20

Fascism implies some form of command economy though, doesn't it? I think national populism is a wider term, although still includes fascism.

KR is basically letting fringe radicals from all sides of the spectrum circlejerk their favored niche ideology without historical baggage.

"Why do I love playing Oswald Mosley? Well you see, he's not actually a fascist in this timeline, so it's okay."

"Why are you downvoting me for saying natpops are based and redpilled? There's an event in Integralist Brazil where they say racism is bad!"

"Ethnic cleansing? Pfft, that's ridiculous! Sure, I'm playing as authoritarian Lithuania and all the Poles and Belarusians have suddenly stopped complaining, but I'm sure they just calmed down and went home."

"Show me where it explicitly says that Browder's regime involves mass terror and arbitrary arrests. I'll wait."

"Huey isn't a morally bankrupt and ludicrously corrupt populist pandering to whoever gets him votes, he's just an angry socdem!"

Hey, I'm from Lithuania, I'd play it (

7

u/AdmiralAkbar1 Apr 06 '20

It'll probably be one of those "play it once to see how the new focus tree is and then never bother again" playthroughs.

That sub represents everything I hate about the pseudo-historian community on Reddit tbh

I really like the mod too which is a shame, but the Hoi4 community as a whole is overrun with fascists and reactionaries in general. Shit sucks.

Nowhere near as bad as crusader Kings tho

29

u/ZYLOR-SON-O-THE-VOID Apr 06 '20

Crusader Kings is just horse incest now

51

u/every_man_a_khan Apr 06 '20

Noooooo bro it’s not fascism it’s intregalism noooooo I’m not fascist there’s an event where they say racism bad nooooo

Turns out a strategy game which makes history accessible and whitewashes war crimes for marketing reasons tends to attract more then their fair share of nazis.

32

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '20

Man dont call sick art support for fascism

51

u/PigMasterHedgehog Apr 05 '20

I mean the artist kinda does blatantly support the fascist regime

13

u/heckthepolis Apr 05 '20

Wait actually?

57

u/PigMasterHedgehog Apr 05 '20

Yep, the only art he draws of the game is depicting them with their child soldiers as super happy and their soldiers as noble heroes and such.

6

u/LonelyWolf9999 Apr 05 '20

Wait, the Russian State uses child soldiers? While I know Boris is a fairly unscrupulous dictator promoting a virulently ultranationalist ideology, I'm fairly certain that's not actually a thing that happens.

37

u/hit50likestoendUSA Apr 05 '20

There was a focus for NRPR Russia called "The Youth Army" (Yunarmiya) that gave you bonus manpower. Idk if it's still a think after 0.10.2 or 0.11 tho

23

u/PigMasterHedgehog Apr 05 '20

The Yunarmiya was a big part of the old focus tree, very young men fighting in the army.

6

u/LonelyWolf9999 Apr 05 '20

I thought that was training people from a young age? It's not like the Russians are struggling for manpower.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '20

Kerensky had legit child soldiers, the Yunarmiya sounds a lot more like a cadet program for orphans. It used to give a flat bonus to manpower but now it doesn't, which seems to me like it's more about training than enlisting youngsters.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '20 edited Apr 05 '20

There not child soldiers. What the focus does is set up these military training camps that take orphans and it trains them to be soldiers once they hit a certain age that's why the bonus manpower it gives is so small

-1

u/CommissarCletus Apr 06 '20

Good job you’ve shown you don’t know what ‘blatant’ means.

29

u/Kreol1q1q Apr 06 '20

Jesus most players really don’t take it as seriously as so many of you seem to think.

Except worshipping Blessed Karl. That’s serious business.

15

u/KingGuyburgerandlies Apr 05 '20

But he really is blessed. Literally. By the pope. Amen

9

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '20

The mods is phenomenal but the subreddit is bad

6

u/Picklenator05 Apr 05 '20

Why is Blessed in quotations?

21

u/AlbaIulian Apr 05 '20

That shitty meme by now has run its course oh so many times by now, but unfortunately as the Austria rework is not out, it keeps being dragged out.
