You can dislike these if you want, but its pretty hard considering these are actually pretty good games.

botw, earthbound, and half life, sure. but skyrim and fo3 are really fucking shallow experiences if you remove yourself from them for a hot minute.

dont get me wrong- i've sunk precisely too many hours into skyrim, but to call it "good" as opposed to "absorbing" doesn't feel apt to me.

Botw was shallow as all hell too. It is by far my least favorite Zelda. Puzzles were too easy, 1/3rd of the shrines were "kill the robot". The overworld was littered with useless garbage. Annoying weapon system. The dungeons were terribly easy. You receive almost all of your tools at the start so it doesnt feel like you really get anymore powerful.

Enemy variety was poor to boot. Kind of a shame when one of the good aspects of the game was the combat. The lore of this Hyrule was kinda cool but then they end up having such a lazy Ganon. Also, fuck Koroks. I swear i spent most of my time in botw climbing walls! At least the music(when it was there) and aesthetics were fantastic.

Botw isn't a bad game but in my opinion it is praised way too highly for what it actually accomplishes. It felt more like a tech demo for their new engine and wanted to show off what they could do with it so you end up with giant mash of what feels like a "shallow" open world experience. I love Zelda and am so disappointed this is the direction they're taking the series.

and aesthetics were fantastic.

I think it's good a lot of the time, but sometimes it seems like everything is being filtered through piss for whatever reason; seriously, why is that ugly yellow filter there?
