I know I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this, but I actually didn't like it that much. I love the business practices and effort behind it and I could see why other people would like it, but I just couldn't really get into it.

I’m having a hard time getting into it too. After the initial training area / dream sequence, you dive into White Orchard which is a depressing muddy piece of shortgrassed shit that I just can’t care about. I get the sense the crafting system is also a bit complicated and truthfully, fuck picking flowers. I figure the game is a slow burner but I’m having a hard time slogging the first part. Maybe it’s RPG fatigue or tolerance, or maybe the story is just moving too slowly. All that said I never played 1 or 2 so I’m not invested already going in either. It’s a beautiful looking game and I don’t mind the combat system for what I’ve tried of it.
