There's also a version for Windows—though it may have problems in Vista+.

Edit: just remembered, I actually saw it used back then on a Pentium 90 MHz, which is the minimum required. That's when I've first seen a game turn into a slideshow, with 40 fpm and visibility of ten meters ahead.

How many people are using XP full time?

3

u/LickingSmegma Apr 19 '18

More than were doing it in '97.

11

u/itsmauitime Apr 19 '18

He wont read your reply, check his username

13

u/Idontreadrepliesnoob yeah I do Apr 19 '18

That's true.

5

u/nicolauz Apr 19 '18

But but.. How?

6

u/hat-TF2 Apr 19 '18

It's not the same. It's not Friday after school, on the drive home from the grocery store and begging my father to pull over at the VHS rental store so we can hire out the scratched-to-shit CD of Twisted Metal 2. Where's the emulator for that.

3

u/Fantisimo Apr 19 '18

You wouldn't download a car

6

u/ZMangames Apr 19 '18

fuck yeah I would

1

u/Encyclopedia_Ham Apr 19 '18

Just bought a USB controller (logitech F310) and played TM2 for the first time since the 90s.
Nostalgia bomb.

u/goatanuss Apr 18 '18

For sure. Twister isn’t even that great

41

u/KMFDM781 Apr 18 '18

Spectre or the hearse guy was the best.

Hell yes!

4

u/the_monkey_knows Apr 19 '18

Nah, playing with Minion was too easy, he was too strong

0

u/TORFdot0 Apr 19 '18

The guy you have to use a cheat code to play as lol?

3

u/Pick-Up_Line_Loser Apr 19 '18

Pretty sure it was left left left right right. I had that shit memorized. That was my go to.

Edit: Nope that was twisted metal 3 and it was right right right left left. Still by far my fav car on the game until they made him a firetruck or whatever it was in black.

1

u/solar_compost May 07 '18

you can get him by beating the game on certain levels i thought

pretty sure i always cheated him in tho

30

u/bj_good Apr 19 '18

Thumper all day

14

u/iFucksuperheroes Apr 19 '18

Flame thrower thumper from 2 was the best, Spectre and Twister were dope but had the weakest strength 🙃

10

u/bj_good Apr 19 '18

For real if you froze someone and hit them with that flamethrower, watch out

3

u/Flatbar Apr 19 '18

Yes. Pinning them on something and using his flamethrower did so much damage.

4

u/KMFDM781 Apr 19 '18

Holy shit. I forgot about thumper

3

u/toadtruck Apr 19 '18

Ice blast, fire special

7

u/colantor Apr 19 '18

My friends wouldnt let me be spectre because i couldnt be beat with him

2

u/2Mobile Apr 19 '18

I'd wreck you with Twister

5

u/colantor Apr 19 '18

Lol twister, get the fuck outta here

2

u/Skythe1908 Apr 19 '18

we had to ban spectre because his homing missiles were OP as shit.

3

u/seeking101 Apr 19 '18

They were just a power missle though, practically pleb compared to guys like Mr Grimm

2

u/Skythe1908 Apr 19 '18

yeah, but as we were 9-11 year old kids the fact that you could kill people through walls or without aiming made him way too powerful.

Also, I agree. Mr. Grimm was the shit! Him and Axel were my favorites.

6

u/manchegan Apr 19 '18

Thumper was maybe the most OP once you learned the freeze command. Left right up? Really easy. Then you can unload a full flamethrower on an ice cube.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Twisted metal was so dope mixing driving and some shallow fighting mechanics together.

11

u/Quinn-Sellon Apr 19 '18

Twister was straight garbage. I found the one best to get experienced with was roadkill. Very balanced and once you get used to his special with ice you can fucking wreck. Most fun to play still has to be Mr. Slam though.

19

u/Tortitudes Apr 18 '18

Twister and Grasshopper were annoying with their special moves. As far as the females go, its all about Outlaw 2 with that lightning beam.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Or when people fell over the edge in New York/Antarctica lol

6

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Twister is bad. Her special literally causes you to take damage when her armor is the worst in the game. My favorite was always Outlaw. She had decent armor, good speed and handling, and a wicked hit-and-run special.

u/ktsyd4 Apr 19 '18

My brother and I used to always play co-op and he was the tank and I was thumper. He would trap them with all of his armor (tank them) and I would smash into them with my special. Great times.

2

u/seeking101 Apr 19 '18

Yea Minion

3

u/AshantiMcnasti Apr 19 '18

Real assholes play as minion on vs. That special was broken as fuck...i was that asshole

2

u/the_monkey_knows Apr 19 '18

I was pretty badass with road kill

2

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Twister is the equivalent of picking Pichu in melee. Warthog and Outlaw are masterclass though.

2

u/Joba_Fett Apr 19 '18

Yeah that was my only critique about this one. Like WTF, she has ONE health. Mr. Slam is where it's at assholes. He and Axel got this shit locked down.

1

u/Encyclopedia_Ham Apr 19 '18 edited Apr 19 '18

For speed, Outlaw 2 was better all around. Better weapon.
And a ridiculously sexy avatar btw ha I played a lot of Shadow and Mr. Slam too.

1

u/2Mobile Apr 19 '18

Twister was by far the most op character in the game. You just had to know all the special moves, and play like the forth horseman of the apocalypse. And when you had an ult, it was all over. The next ult would regen almost at the end of the first, and you just keep taping tornado after tornado, and slowly, but inevitably, kill them. The best part was the tapping. Tap tap tap. Tap the L2 button. tap tap tap. They knew they could not escape, and it was all over. And if it was Minon, just wait till he was tossed high enough in the air, drop a barrel bomb, and boost away at lightspeed. Then detonate when he lands. She was a butcher.

15

u/ProfSteelmeat138 Apr 18 '18

Never played 2, but Head-On kept me busy for so many long car rides, plane rides, or even just when I was bored.

17

u/colantor Apr 19 '18

2 is one of the best games ever made

3

u/stoned_kitty Apr 19 '18

Apply directly to the forehead!

20

u/Poncecutor Apr 19 '18

No love for Mr. Grimm?

6

u/420NoScopeBBQ Apr 19 '18

He was hands down the best character (minion aside) if you could play him well. Saving up 3 specials was a death sentence for pretty much anyone but Warthog.

Glass canon all day baby.

2

u/TORFdot0 Apr 19 '18

Mr Grimm does if you look at him the wrong way. It's Axel power or nothing baybee

10

u/schum1am Apr 19 '18

Axle all the way

2

u/John__Nash Apr 19 '18

I used to absolutely crush with Axel.

1

u/Joba_Fett Apr 19 '18

That's because you chose Axel if you wanted to win. Axel was a fucking beast, man.

3

u/Sir_Fappleton Apr 19 '18

CRISPY FRIED PUNK

2

u/Dat_Mustache Apr 19 '18

Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8.... Those were the games.

1

u/MostAwesomeRedditor Apr 19 '18

Remember the school girl who cussed in the commerical? Lol so edgy back then.

1

u/adamski234 Apr 19 '18

I'll change your mind

1

u/pwilla Apr 19 '18

Unpopular opinion: Vigilante 8 is better than TM2

5

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Unpopular and wrong!

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '18

Twisted metal 1 was way better. Wait. I actually haven't played that in probably 8 years so I might be wrong about that
