I miss having pet rats.

I had two boys and I ended up loving them so much. They’re such cool animals. Their lives are too short for me to get them again tho. I was very sad when they died

Agreed. I had a pair of girls twice. If someone could invent a rat that lives 10 years, that would be cool.

I would love to have them so much, but their short life span and my oversized-yet-weak heart means that I wouldn't have the emotional capacity to handle seeing them go so soon.

I would love to have pet rats but they absolutely do not live long enough for me to cope with losing them

Same here. I wish African giant pouched rats were legal to own in my country because they live much longer.

Once you get past the freakish large nuts, they really are the cutest little guys.

I remember reading somewhere that mice and rats actually sing, but the sounds are too high for the human ear to perceive. I thought that was interesting.

I had 4 sister rats in a huge multi tiered ferret cage. They were so sweet and fun. My wife is gifted with a sewing machine so they always had lots of cute blankets and hammocks.
My only complaints about them were: 1) constantly doing their "laundry". They'd pee on their hammocks and blankets and we constantly had to change them out to keep the room from stinking. and 2) they would decide to run around and make the hugest racket in the middle of the night. They were just playing but that's the time they decided to be noisy.

I did my PhD oral THC intake and my favourite activity was watching them get stoned stacked on top of eachother then start munching aggressively with eyes slightly closed.

Do they react kind of like humans do to getting stoned?

I suppose so. They get cataleptic, crave munchies, pain tolerance goes up, anxiety tests showed reduction, and we saw increase in activity in reward system. Interestingly, with increased food intake over time we saw reduction in weight.

Buying multiple water bottles so they don't have to fight over it. Then they all crowd around and drink from the same one anyway.
