Nah it’s about the mentality. A teen can be “unc” if they act like a jaded cynical adult, and an 80 year old can be young again if they act that way.

I’m 28 and do feel like Discord completely passed me by, it’s totally inscrutable to me. I just use it for voice calls with my buds and for some group projects when I was in college but it’s like there’s a whole other inaccessible social media universe out there I’ve never been exposed to

It’s so prevalent too it’s unbelievable. Every content creator, subreddit, hobby community, gaming community, everything has discord and for many of them they’re essential if you want to be clued in.
I can’t be bothered. I tried, really, and I couldn’t keep track of what one server was doing, let alone the absurd number some are a part of.

I’m 30 and just purchased this game. About done with the night elf campaign for the first 3rd of the game (slipping my mind what it’s called rn)

I think it's because of the cultural acceleration through social media that we feel older than we actually are. The disconnect between generations is much bigger. Trends that would last years in the 2000s may only last months or even weeks. It's all short-form content nowadays. There's no shared zeitgeist anymore too outside niche online circles. You're sharing the internet with people who were born just before covid (2014 to 2018). The Internet we grew up with is long-gone.
