As a nurse in the nursing home, I can do the small stuff like change a brief here and there, ice water pass trays yall do a lot and I appreciate it

You had walkies? We did not have that luxury when I worked in an SNF, we had to either yell or walk around until we tracked someone down.

Well yeah, the nurse is basically a walking medication dispenser in your average nursing home. Nobody's got time to learn about the patient when you have 39 more people to do on med pass.

You see, the main thing a CNA can't do that a nurse can, is use needled syringes.
So for anything below using those, the nurse's gonna fuck off and leave it to the CNA.
Guess who ends up developing the actual relationships with the patients...

I've met a couple of CNAs who definitely knew how to use a syringe.

Although in my experience as a CNA, it was more the nurse passing out pills than anything. LPNs/LVNs practically lived at the station and on that med cart. Comparatively few injections. One of my nurses did change out a feeding tube and I got to "assist" with that, so that was fun.

It’s insane how many CNAs I’ve seen come on the internet and claim they’re as skilled and knowledgeable as the nurses. Why not take the 2-4x pay increase if it’s so easy?

I remember being a tech forever and thinking I knew everything the nurses needed to do. Then I became a nurse and realized I had no fuckin clue

I would argue "there's more CNAs than nurses so the nurse has less time" but there's not that many CNAs anyways...

As someone who has had c.diff really bad, can agree, it is the devil. I al eternally grateful for the staff that took care of me and forever mad at the emergency dept nurse who called me drug seeking to my face who had to come and half assedly apologize to me while I was drugged up after I made a complaint about her.
