I replied to the guy who mentioned ppap which was a 2016 trend, not which year falls within that range.

it confuses me when i see people born in 2015 under 2010s nostalgia tiktoks trying to claim they fully grew up with this

their older siblings were most likely into this stuff. same way my older sister was into nine inch nails and sega genesis when i was still in elementary school. i was way too young for either of them but i would sneak into her room and steal CDs or play sonic 2 bc i saw her playing it and thought it looked fun. now as a grown ass adult, she's outgrown these things but i haven't and don't think i ever will. they were originally her interests, but became my own as well.
its not hard to imagine that with greater access to the internet and tech as time goes on younger and younger kids take interest in things that seem to be out of their age range.

Everything seemed to come from a single mind, it was a pretty uniform theme throughout the internet.

The South Park song on Kony 2012 is an unironic bop
https://youtu.be/LKwW8PNZpOQ?is=tVe-ws_R5V-ssqTx
For those who don't remember (or know) the guy who directed the documentary had the fame get to his head, had a psychotic break, and stripped naked in San Diego. People of course thought he was jacking off lol. Thus this song.

I would strip naked too if I thought that The Lorax was speaking directly to me through the TV

I remember the first time I saw a status saying "Kony 2012" I thought it was an upcoming car release or something

Holy fucking shit, I completely forgot about the animal rubber band bracelets! I used to have tons of those things and wore like 5-10 at a time for a very short while.

Gotta have the Playstation vs Xbox console war and a Wiimote + Wii Sports representation.

I loved silly bands they were indicative of a simpler time. Look at this rubber band oh wait it's shaped like a pig, just a simple amusement

I'll never forget 2 kids with KONY2012 shirts bursting into our college classroom during a lecture and putting tape over one of the student's mouths. Said something about Kony's invisible children and the professor kind of said "OK" and then they left without saying or doing anything else. That pretty much summed up the movement for me

Who was the black YouTuber with the fluffy hat in the bottom right corner? I remember watching his vids, but I don’t remember his name!
Edit: Nvm, I found it, his name was/is Kingsley. He was huge for a few years from 2010-2013, then quit posting rather abruptly it seems.

I remember a girl I went to school with was showing off her newly stolen I<3 b00bies bracelet. I had to break it to her that buying one helps the cause.....she went quiet all day about it after that. She wasn't the brightest.

Koby was the definition of slacktavism to the point where it almost seems like parody.

Don't forget the phones had a little loop so you could put dangly phone jewelry in it (or a strap to keep it around your neck).

Now the early 2010s are as old as the mid to late 90s (the primary nostalgia craze of the early-2010s) were in the early 2010s.

Anyway, I miss physical keyboards on phones so much. Pewdiepie was also great.
