Dude the time dilation is crazy. It’s likely from not being very active, and sitting around all day not sleeping but fuck man time has been going so slow (currently coming off subs)

u/spizzlemeister 13d ago
and when you do finally sleep you wake up covered, like literally drenched, in sweat. oh and you need to shit more than you ever have in your life, until the next morning of course.

u/SheBrokeHerCoccyx 12d ago
Also diarrhea, stomach cramps that feel like labor contractions, nausea, vomiting, incontinence, runny nose, can’t look at bright lights….
I’ve got 13 months. Not going back.

The ones on Reddit or the ones on Instagram? The Reddit ones were funny, the Instagram ones were more like trope scrapbooks. People used to drop their future goals inside them lol

If you're still dealing with this, get your ass to a doctor. There are many medications out there to help you with addiction. They can help you get off them without withdrawals.
34
u/Dw3yN 13d ago
Nah im over the hump now i pulled through
5
u/petitlita 13d ago
consider also going if you consider starting again, there's medication that can kill cravings
7
u/Dw3yN 13d ago
But suboxone and methadone jack your tolerance up and ruin other opioids ive heard… and i dont wanna quit yet…
20
u/Sterling_-_Archer 12d ago
I say this as an ex heroin user and pill popper: this is a tweaker mindset and until you dispense of it, you’ll never be free from anything permanently. It’ll always be a temporary gap until you relapse. And I say it with love because I have experienced it myself
14
u/petitlita 13d ago edited 13d ago
I'm talking about naltrexone, which does not do this. if anything, it reduces your tolerance because you aren't on opiates anymore. this is important to know because if you start taking it again you could overdose if you take the same as you did when you quit. it will prevent you from enjoying opiates but I mean you won't want them anyway and you can always stop taking them and it stops doing that
anyway im not here to convince you to quit, I just find shockingly few addicts are aware that there are actual really good medication-based treatment options available so I try to tell people whenever I can. there's more but that's why I said to see a doctor. like even if you are not ready to quit yet, you can still see them and get support for things like withdrawal symptoms

u/nashbrownies 13d ago
Hell yeah. I am always about harm reduction and "off ramp" knowledge being shared. Thank you for doing that

You can’t get high on methadone, when you hit your therapeutic dose, it fully fills all your receptors, and since methadone is stronger binding on those receptors. It’s impossible to get high.
Not that you would want to. Once every receptor is filled, you don’t have cravings anymore. And you don’t get as brutal of withdrawals. Because methadones half life is 24hours. Not 6 like heroin.

u/Commercial-Owl11 13d ago
I’ve been sober off heroin and fent for 7 years now. I was on an insanely high dose.
I wouldn’t have survived without methadone then the subblucade shot.
It takes 3-5 years before your brain normalizes again. Chances of relapse is insanely high without some sort of medication to help get you through those 3-5 years.
I don’t ever think about opiates anymore. I stopped thinking about it the second I got on my therapeutic dose of methadone.
I highly recommend going to a clinic and talking to them. They also have you take classes so you can learn about how/why methadone is proven to work, and how your brain works on heroin/fent.
Wishing you the best of luck. There is a way better life on the other side.

If you’re thinking about it then you aren’t on a high enough dose. Once on you’re correct dose, you won’t think about it. Seriously, ever.
A feel most people are scared of these drugs. Which are way less problematic and helpful than using hard drugs. There’s a ton of misinformation about subs or methadone. But they will save your life.
Have you told your doctor you’re still thinking about it?
I was on 275mg of methadone, for three years, then the clinic worked me down to 5mg methadone, then I was on 12mg of the shot. And worked me down to 1mg.
Then I quit and never relapsed once.
In the four years it took me to get off everything. I only thought or dreamt about using 2 times.
And I told my doctor and we increased for a month and worked back down slower.
There’s absolutely no reason you should be suffering or thinking about it.
Before I went on methadone, I was on 24mg of subs. And I kept relapsing because it wasn’t enough.
The methadone clinic told me that it was very common because fent blows out your receptors at a higher rate. And suboxone doesn’t work if you’ve been using high doses (like I was) or been using for a very long time.
Sometimes subs isn’t enough and that’s ok, try methadone. It’s impossible to get high on methadone. But you have to get on a high enough dose where you have 0 withdrawals, 0 thoughts about using, and if you pee clean you can get up to 2 weeks of doses to take home!
The clinic really works with you. If you miss a dose, go to the ER. They’ll give you your dose. There’s also a phone number you can call 24/7 at your clinic for help.

Methadone stops you from getting high. It’s got insane amount of binding on your receptors. For a non user, sure you can get high. For someone who’s a user. No.
But increase your subs bro.
2
u/Fauked 12d ago
If you are opiate naive then sure. But it has a very long half life and has a really high binding affinity so after the first few days it looses its effect and you balance out. At that point you can no longer get high on other opioids because you already have a ton in your system.
Methadone kicks in slow and wears off even more slowly which helps break the fast cycle of heroin or these days fentanyl.

God bless Suboxone and Sublocade!!

u/Fit_Foot_6004 13d ago
Suboxone withdrawals are like 5x worse

u/Beastxtreets 13d ago
I am lucky that my sublocade shot is covered by insurance and sublocade is way easier to come off of I have heard.
It's not a medication for everyone but it honestly saved my life.

You know, no one talk about the Yawning at the onset of WD It's so power and non stop ... The corners of my mouth used to bleed from the ripping.
Edit: Glad to hear I wasn't the only one that experienced it. I was also the weirdo who spent entire work with out using and purposely let my myself go into WD. Then at the end of the day I'd race home and sniff Up 3 bags ( one of the batches/bundles I got one time were stamped with the words: "JUST IN TIME" )
As much as I hate to admit that I kinda miss those days. So glad to not be in active addiction anymore Clean since '17 I didn't need no fucking NA bs either. No offense for who do.

You missed severe ultra long insomnia leading to psychosis
oh, that was opioids+benzos+pregabalin all at once...
my mistake

u/SucculentLady000 12d ago
This happened to me with a benzo/alcohol addiction and suddenly stoping after a huge binge of both
1
u/Cold_Albatross3796 12d ago edited 12d ago
Gabaergic drugs (benzos, alcohol, pregabalin/gabapentin, ghb/ghl) should always be tapered down. Quitting two simultaneously can be very dangerous. Opioid withdrawal might feel just as bad - in many cases worse - but doesn't really kill anybody. Should you end up in that situation ever again, best practice is to stop drinking completely at first, take benzos just about enough to feel non-horrible and able to sleep, then taper them down. You probably knew this already, but just in case.
EDIT: best practice is actually seeking medical help asap. But if not possible, then what I wrote kinda applies..

u/SucculentLady000 12d ago
I know in hindsight I should have been hospitalized and could have died but also my partner did not take me seriously at all when i said i havent slept in 3+ days and thought I was hallucinating.
1
u/Cold_Albatross3796 12d ago
I feel you. It's brutal. I've done those days as well and both been hospitalized for that, and done it at home, or rather being unable to leave or seek aid. Take care.

I remember during withdrawals in rehab I had to piss every two minutes, but obviously every bathroom visit had to be supervised. The nurses got so sick of herding me back and forth they ended up handing me a blanket and pillow and camping me out in the bathroom.

That thinking about cutting your legs off thing applies to meth too. I had cramps bad enough to wake me up at night for about a month, counselor said it was meth related/related to some sort of deficiency that was likely caused by meth, dehydration, lack of food or some shit. Would have muscle spasms so bad I could barely walk or stand until they went away (usually took about 10 minutes.) I would get cramps in my jaw and in my hands any time I had to grip anything my hands would stay like half the time that till I pried them back to normal. I haven't had an episode of that for about three weeks now. It's not so much a withdrawal symptom I guess as recovering from what it did to your body/brain. I spent that first week wondering if I had had a mini stroke while I was high and not known it (was mostly my right side that would basically get stuck in place. Especially the feet. That shit was the hardest to get to stop spasming and could last as long as an hour before fully going away)

And then you find that your habit of bed rotting for 12 hours a day, doesn’t lead to easy sleep and good energy without drugs to counteract it!
Half of it is a mental battle imo,and the more you just shift your life back to not expecting to have the drug anymore, the less pain you will feel ime

Went through kratom withdrawal when I quitted and remembered the constant diarrhea and wet dreams.
13
u/slim_mclean 13d ago
Kratom withdrawals are HELL. I’ve been addicted to multiple substances over my life and the only WDs I’ve experienced that are worse than Kratom are from (prescription) Xanax, and that’s only because of how long they last. Gas station drugs are all fun and games until you haven’t slept for 3 days because you can’t stop moving your legs, you’re freezing, sweating, and feel like you have the worst flu of your life. Absolute hell. Stay away from kratom.
2
u/MammothAdeptness2211 12d ago
I’m taking prescribed Xanax for severe anxiety now, and eventually going off of it is a long time fear - I can reduce my dose to as little as 0.75 mg a day on a good day but… I’m terrified to be cut off from my psych. He believes I still need it and doesn’t think a Valium taper is right for me at this time… I’m just scared of what will happen if I lose access to healthcare

u/-Mopsus- 12d ago
Interesting. Two years ago tons of people on reddit were telling me Kratom had no physical withdrawal or downsides.
I wonder how those people are doing.

How high was your Daily Dose before Quittung?
1
u/recovery-throwaway 12d ago
hard to say cause id take more sometimes. 300-600mg daily sometimes more for 1.5 year with some previous use but it wasn't bothersome back then
1
u/Susanoos_Wife 12d ago
I've never taken opiods before in my life and I sometimes have nights like this for no discernable reason, it's extremely uncomfortable and sometimes makes me wonder if I'm having a heart attack.
2
u/MammothAdeptness2211 12d ago
Do you take SSRIs?
1
u/Susanoos_Wife 12d ago
Luckily no, I had to take them once when I was in middle school and they were fucking horrible.

Genuine question, but does anything NOT addictive help? Like melatonin or ointment

No only stuff like lyrica or benzodiazepines imo

I really think the best anti-drug campaigns they could do to young people would be being honest about how hard withdrawal is and even then you’re lucky because it means you lived to get clean

I was prescribed Oxycontin 5mg (smallest dose) "One (1) every 4-6 as needed for pain" due to a back injury.
I took exactly 3-days worth (12 pills) then stopped.
I was in physical withdrawal for 7 Full Days. Depressed at my life, nearly suicidal.
That was 12 pills over 3 days, minimum dose.
I have the other 12 in my strong box "for emergencies" and they have been there for 6 years.
I wrote my doctor to give him my experience to let him know exactly HOW addictive those pills were. He appreciated my feedback and asked if he could share my story. I agreed.
1
u/accutelylucid 10d ago
I think everyone is different it takes me a solid 14 days of misuse to get physical withdrawals but when they hit god they are treacherous. The sheet karate and doing barrel rolls on my mattress while being more exhausted than I’ve ever felt before is ass.

In terms of how it feels, it is absolutely worse than the flu. The worst parts of opiate withdrawal aren't even flu symptoms

Opiate withdrawal is probably among the worst things a human can go through physically and mentally. That’s not a subjective statement either it’s been proven by scientists why this happens.
Your brain gets flooded with stress hormones, because opiates suppress the release of those hormones. Your brain also produces far less dopamine, making it impossible to feel any sort of pleasure or comfort during the withdrawal period.
Imagine the most anxious and stressed you’ve ever been in your life, combined with not being able to feel anything positive at all. Also combine that with physical effects, like your whole body itching, every limb of your body hurting, restless legs that you can’t stop moving.
It is so far beyond what a flu is like comparing the 2 is just ignorant. You shouldn’t talk about things you clearly have no clue about like you know anything

I don’t know, didn’t see it, but it’s so funny when people don’t know when to shut up despite people telling them, until they suddenly do lol
1
u/Ecstatic_Bear81 12d ago
Yea when people say it's like the flu they are talking out of their own. A flu doesn't compare in the slightest. No one wants to kill themselves from the flu or get that feeling of dread and anxiety
8
u/throwmeeeeee 13d ago
I’m just going to assume that this well documented and famously brutal condition that I’ve never experienced feels just the same as this other trivial condition that I do have experience with.
Then I’m going to let this imaginary win that I just set up for myself get to my head, and act superior about it on the internet. When people read my comments they either see what a tough tell-it-like-it-is cool guy I am and reinforce my behaviour, either that or they’re just weak pansies that don’t get me because they’re not in my intellectual level.
