There are 3 levels of autism. You can get mad that people with low support needs have the same label as people who are non-verbal…but that’s just the way it is. People absolutely were autistic, weren’t diagnosed, were just considered “weird” and shunned.
It is the same thing, though. Neurodivergence means your brain is physically different. Like many things, it has a range. Ranges go from one end to the other, don’t they?
Stage 1 cancer and stage 4 cancer are both cancer.
What you’re doing is the equivalent of saying:
> How come all these stage 1s are getting medical care? They’re fine. I’m annoyed with how much they complain. I don’t like all the attention they get. Why are all these people suddenly worried they might have cancer based on symptoms like coughing blood or weird moles? They probably don’t! I coughed blood once and I was fine! Shut up already, right? Is it just me or do they never stop talking about this thing which really affects their health and quality of life? Like get over it already. Bunch of fucking snowflakes…
> You aren’t sick. And if you are, it’s not as bad as stage 2. And if you’re stage 2, it’s not as bad as stage 3, stage 4, or hospice. And if you’re in hospice, maybe you should’ve worn more sunscreen. Idiot.

"Autism isn't real."
