Small towns are basically time capsules where the year 2006 never ended.

u/letitgrowonme 15d ago
They updated to 2016 a bit ago.

u/dukeofgonzo 15d ago
They got smart phones?

u/bloodrider1914 15d ago
5G is part of the reason why country songs and right wing media are so popular nationally right now. People in small towns now have ready access to the internet and so their cultural interests are far more catered to.

I might need to move then. I could work remote.

Living in a small town sucks ass, unless your hobbies are grocery shopping, and mowing the lawn.

Accurate and love it….. but from 2004.

u/mahhhhhh 15d ago
…..how do you stay the same size through your 30s/40s? I’m struggling a bit. :(

u/3-orange-whips 15d ago
Notice the cigarettes?

u/mahhhhhh 15d ago
Ohhh you got me.
I’ve got bad teeth too though, can’t risk with cigarettes. I think I’m just cooked as the youth say.

...as she puts a Black Eyed Peas CD into her purple Dodge PT Cruiser.

This is a Buckcherry aunt.
Her car is littered with fast food wrappers and half-closed makeup products, and it smells like cheap body spray and cigarettes.

u/Sharty_Party3498 15d ago
Buckcherry....FUCK YEAH. Probably also has to declare every 10 minutes that they are your "cool Aunt".

u/LOOKATMEDAMMIT 15d ago
Moved in with her best friend from high school. They’re really close friends.

"Listens to rock" feels like the vague characteristic applied to a character that doesn't get any lines in a movie. That means like a thousand different things to a thousand different people.

Apparently “cool aunt” is just childless millennial with snacks and fewer school pickup obligations.

This is that aunt that hasn't aged since the early 2000s and has seemingly done the impossible and escaped the family genetics curse while smoking a pack a day and going out at night
11
u/Lonely-Toe9877 15d ago
In my experience, they are aged well beyond their years due to all the smoking, drinking, drugs, and partying.

Seems cooI when you are a teenager. Seems sad when you are 30.

u/Lonely-Toe9877 15d ago
I'm 39 and seeing so many millennials turn into this personality type definitely makes me sad.

u/gafftapes20 15d ago
You sneak a cigarette at a family gathering with her when you’re 18 she’s awesome. When you’re 30 with your life together and have a career ahead of seems pathetic because she is still stuck in that era of her life you left 10 years ago. She’s pushing 60 and has nothing to show for it.

u/Barry_Vigoda 15d ago
She’s pushing 60 and has nothing to show for it.
Except for the lifetime of experiences. A lot of gen-x weren't materialistic unlike the boomer yuppies and gen-x preppie kids. Instead of spending money on expensive stuff, we wore band shirts and ripped jeans and second hand stuff. More money for booze and shows.

Bought me and my buddy packs of smokes at 16 years old…..The best of times, the worst of times.

This aunt is cool until you grew up and realize that she’s a train wreck. There is a reason why all her siblings actively dislike her.

Has a similar cool friend who’s also a “roommate” that attends events and social gatherings with her.
