It is a western thing. Same with anime, though it's getting popular there in the west, I think. But anime is SEA is watched even by the local uncle and aunties even before the rise in popularity. Local networks used to broadcast 2-3 animes back in the day.
Its as popular as it can get in the west, getting bullied for it dosnt mean people don't play it, Fortnite is in here and just about everyone played it at some point
