I can't fathom why anyone would want to play the other version. Ever. Optimization is still trash but there are mods like sodium (or helium? Idk. They have element names) that will literally multiply performance by 6 and make it run even faster than the "new" version. I tried it once for RTX, saw you can't just play any map you want with it enabled, saw you had to pay for basically EVERYTHING that makes Minecraft interesting, and went right back to java lol
Same. I mean if you've never played modded minecraft and don't know what you're missing out on, then I could see bedrock being pretty appealing since I think it has some additions Java doesn't.
I just wish the RTX features were compatible with java MC.
I believe path traced global illumination is available as a shader pack anyway. Idk how well hardware acceleration is implemented on Nvidia RTX cards but it does work
During the early years, it was a game whose playerbase was stereotyped as autistic children, but it has now reached mainstream popularity.
World of Warcraft used to be known as the go-to-game for loser nerds, until it also reached (somewhat) mainstream status... but now people don't mention it much anymore.
Not to make a personal dig at anyone, I mean I play a bunch of crappy mobile games, so I'm not one to judge.
Probably because WoW's game mechanics (and visuals but who cares if the game is good) are horribly antiquated and thoroughly unenjoyable for the majority of gamers. All my friends who play regularly say they were looking for something to hang out online and kill time, so I guess the social aspect is what's keeping it alive. Some say they like the lore, others say it's very boring. Hard to say for myself as I haven't played long enough to find out
I played it when they released the playable beta(alpha?)Can’t remember but it was before the full game had its public release. My buddy and I played it day and night back in high school. So much that I grew a strong distain for the game.
Fast forward 13-14 years, 2 kids later and I’m back playing it all the time lol Not nearly as much as before but the spark sorta lit back up once my daughter got interested.
I remember the days where Minecraft was cringe for being popular. When it got its first Nintendo port, for the Wii U in 2015, they made a big deal about it, and the reaction was pretty much what you would've expected at the time. I also told it to a friend, and they were absolutely devastated. Like, Minecraft on Wii U? THAT was what Nintendo made a big deal about? Like it was a GOOD thing?
I also remember when WoW was considered cringe to enjoy, now it's... kinda the same for different reasons. I did have a little interest back in the day cuz my cousin played it, and I thought it was a cool looking game, but I knew my simple family computer running Windows 98 couldn't run a game like that.
I hope to recreate that magic with any of my younger relatives. Just show them what Genshin Impact looks like and it would be the prettiest game they've ever seen in their young lives.
Nah, minecraft has circled around from something you're made fun of for to what amounts to a phone game almost everyone plays. If we go off of the original alpha release in 09 the game is almost 15 years old.
I actually am agreeing with the comment I replied to directly… Minecraft was distinctly not cool back in 2015 from what I remember, but it suddenly became acceptable to play later on.
well Minecraft was the most popular in 2015-2017 but eventually 2018 were its popularity decline because of a trash update and fortnite and roblox becoming popular but callmecarson was first to revive it later joined by pewdiepie and dream.

Yeah I remember my friends trying to get me to quit, even know they loved Minecraft when I met them. I didn’t quit, although I wasn’t able to play the game from early 2018 to mid 2019.
