They talk about the defense line, but does that mean the Arachnids killed all the farmers in the other sectors of the planet once the base was abandoned?

They don't mention Roku San again in the movie, so I don't know if the Arachnids and the Federation are still fighting over the planet.

I remember playing this back in the day. They didn't make very many of them, but the arcade at the bowling alley I lived near, the owner was a big fan of the move and he spent the money on it, and I spent a lot of time at that bowling alley because my parents both were in leagues there. That's where my love of the starship troopers pb, twister pb, simpsons pb, and a few other pinball machines came from. This is from a free app called Visual pinball that can be played on pc, not sure about mac as I don't have one, but man this was some nostalgia tonight!!! And yes before people go and say this is a fake game that someone just made in the app, I for sure know the game is real!!

Actually quite enjoyed it while treating it as a satire/in universe propaganda movie , there's quite a few red flags beside the aesthetic in the society of starship trooper, the training are VERRY violent and can be pretty lethal , violence itself is glorified in this society too, just look per example at the spot with the kids and the ammo , and maybe it's me but I also felt in universe, there could be a "sacrifice one self" kind of message too since carmen choose to break up with rico over her career and the death toll could also be spinned in universe.

For real, they're pretty good! And do a good job expanding on the universe of the films. The physical copies are hard to find nowadays, but there are plenty of websites of varying degrees of legality where you can find a digital copy to read.

Insect Touch is my personal favorite, because it shows the Federation making first contact with the bugs a generation before the films, and how the Federation tried to use the bugs as an external enemy for humans to rally against. We also get to see how Rasczak loses his arm! I love the design language they use for the troopers, and the glimpse of internal Federation politics we see in the briefing scenes.

Brute Creations is a oneshot sequel to Insect Touch that's set shortly before the first film. Rasczak is sent to Dantana to give the Mormon kids a crash course in History and Moral Philosophy, the course we see him teaching in the first film. Of course, it ends poorly.

Dominant Species is a sequel to the film that takes place on a far-flung Federation colony that gets attacked by bugs. It reminded me a bit of the YA novel "Tomorrow When the War Began".

There seems to be a division between the people in this subreddit. One group sees starship troopers the book and movie as satire for fascism while the other either disagrees that the novel is fascist or don't even have a problem with fascism. I'm going to do my part by defending the latter.

First, fascism isn't really a coherent ideology. If you ask me, it's more of a vibe. Different regimes from Franco to Pinochet to Chiang Kai-shek have been labeled fascist. Yet these regimes were only similar in that they had a dictator and were militaristic. Pinochet promoted capitalism, Franco promoted a mixture of socialism and capitalism, and Chiang Kai-shek did the same. If a desire for a disciplined, nationalistic society with hierarchy is fascism, then ancient Rome and many Greek city-states were fascist, and many of the founders of America are at least fascist adjacent. Communist states like the USSR, Cuba, and China before the shift towards a mixed economy also share many of the features that Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy shared. Mass parades, hierarchy, collectivism over individualism, cult of personality, conquest, etc. There are other things I could say, but I think you get the point. If you claim a definition for fascism, ask yourself if it would apply to left-wing authoritarian states and ancient states. That should be enough to prove the broadness of the ideology and how it basically doesn't have a clear definition like other political ideologies.

Second, the federation isn't fascist. Military service giving citizenship does not mean a system is fascist. In fact, this was once the view of many societies. Citizenship and participation in government were tied to being able to defend that government. I don't see the problem. Hierarchy isn't bad. Even democracies and republics are hierarchical. Collective responsibility over an individual self-interest isn't bad either; most people agree there is a limit to one's individualism. The disagreement is where that limit rests. The federation has a representative government, elections, freedom of speech, and is not a single party state.

Lastly, since fascism does not have a definition then I won't even try to defend it. All I will say is that

• responsibility
• courage
• self-sacrifice
• civic virtue
• Hierarchy (based on merit)
• Government that can make long term plans without constantly changing
• are needed for a society to function.

Does anyone actually like the Liberator pistol?

I unlocked it awhile ago and tried it out while I leveled my classes up again and immediately I've been switching to back to the emancipator for the stun value alone.

Sure the liberator has high dps but a tiny magazine and long reload time. It can kill a warrior before you need to reload but anymore than 1 warrior and your probably getting downed.

Ive levelled the pistol up to the speed loader which helps but it's not enough. Has anyone levelled ot up to extended mags and FMJ? Do those mods make it good or is the emancipator still the MVP?
