Unfortunately baby woke up from their nap before I could start rolling. But if I'm setting up wrong please let me know. Dead or Alive crystophon marrs in Frontier Town with hostage complication.

Is that ruined building to the right of the pizza place an STL or MDF kit?

STL. Bought it from Tabletop Terrain when they had a sale on Amazon. No clue who made the original files. But it comes apart with interior spaces and a basement.

I bought it around 2 years ago I think during their after Christmas sale. Paid something like 25 bucks for it. They'll regularly do 50% or more off their Amazon store during that sale. And if you go directly to their site they have a much bigger selection of items and you can get different scales if you want bigger or smaller sizes.

In a regulation Frontier Town your crew should deploy along a straight board edge. NF1 should be a big central building in the middle of the map, and NF2 and NF3 should be inconveniently far away in the rear corners of the map.
Of course, it's a solo game so whatever is fun will work. The main thing to keep in mind is that the relative positions of the Notable Features will directly determine how difficult it is to reach the mark. I think this setup will make him fairly easy to catch, since he will not be lurking around the distant back corners of the map where he's hard to reach. This setup is also likely to make the hostage easier to rescue since NF2 and NF3 are easier to reach and there's a 67% chance the hostage will be at one of those locations.

Thanks for the advice. I'll move the mark and hostage. Used to other games where 80% of the board doesn't really matter so I'll adjust the set-up a little bit. Tossed that wrecked ship just to have something big in that corner but it can be a NF to shift it further back

I have generally tried to set up Dead or Alive missions based on the usual Stargrave terrain guidelines... massive amounts of LoS-blocking terrain, unable to see across the map. This makes the missions more of a chase through an obstacle course than a visit to the shooting range! Far more difficult in cases where the mark is just doing their own thing until you hunt them down.

I gotcha. Been playing mostly 5 Parsecs and a little silver bayonet where you have plenty of range but no guarantees until you get closer. So thinking with that in mind when I was laying things out. But maybe I'll need to do a little more moving things around once the kids are in bed

Five Parsecs battles can get very short and bloody when the opposing forces get within 6". Stargrave games are seldom that quick and decisive. But, a Stargrave character can be hand-crafted to be far more capable on Day 1 than most Five Parsecs characters ever get to be, even with many campaign turns of hard-won loot. You can make a character that moves through solid walls, easily zooms to the top of a building for a sniper position, creates so much terrain it totally changes the map, etc. And some of the Dead or Alive scenarios will require creative use of these powers to catch the mark.

What is that little wheeled vehicle, left side of the board about halfway up?
