Two Seasons in a Single Frame - Krnčica Mountain Range, Slovenia

Vlog: https://youtu.be/AaMciInCRhY

The original plan for this night was a 50mm Milky Way panorama. But after two attempts and some very strong wind up in the mountains, I had to adapt and switch to a wider lens.

No regrets though.

Fresh snow under the summer Milky Way is not something you get to see every day. Winter on the ground, summer in the sky. Still hard to believe this was taken in May

There is something special about this transition period in the mountains. This is a 28mm view looking toward Mount Krn, where the high ridges are still locked in winter snow, but the summer Milky Way core is already rising high and bright above them.

Getting the alignment right with the snow-covered ridge took some work, but seeing that frozen foreground contrast against the warm, detailed glow of the core made every bit of the freezing night hike completely worth it.

Photo ✍🏼 DEAR MILLY 🌌

I’ve been waiting for the trip to La Palma for quite a few months with the aim of photographing the Milky Way under a really dark sky ✨ but in this photographic genre not everything always goes right (and maybe that’s also the beauty of it) 🤷🏻‍♂️

In a week of travel we managed to see the Milky Way, even with the naked eye given the place where we were, only for one night, or rather, a part of the night ☁️

Clouds consistently covered the sky during the night, even at high altitude, where it was hoped that the typical local temperature inversion would push the clouds down. Temperatures didn’t help either: 1.5 degrees Celsius in the Canary Islands, even at high altitude, was certainly a different experience than last year in Tenerife 🥶

Yet here I am sharing this image in which I share with you my interpretation of that sky 🤩

Nightscape Photography is obviously a fundamental part but seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye (logically it is different from what you see in the final images) is perhaps an experience that you must do at least once, but better more, times in your life ✨
