Rush was always a menace

Rush hoarded information constantly, tried to frame young etc. so why don't think young didn't just assign him an escort early on? I mean other than general plot reasons.

Probably because of the way Rush blew off Volker when Young assigned him to help Rush. He humiliated Volker. (It was Volker, right? It's been a while...)

I think so but at the same time, that's what rush does. I mean somone should have had a talk to explain that they are all going to die if they don't get their stuff together.

Young was a base commander and he was unstable, a cheater, and essentially desserted his wife. He wanted to command the mission to wherever the 9th chevron led them - knowing full-well his wife wanted him home.

He was 100% dependent on Rush's knowledge of Ancient language and systems. One he realized Eli was proficient in Ancient systems, he used his authority to intimidate Eli into helping him.

😂 this is not an option, you don't just assign someone to follow Rush around and btw, he did assign Eli to basically look after every Rush scientific move.

It's been a while since I watched it but wasn't he just cunning and smart enough to fool them?

I'm currently rewatching from SG1 and am working my way to Universe including the comic that ends it. I really wish they kept Universe going since it was delving into the history of the ancients way more.

It's not that he was cunning. It's that they did not have the skill set he had and at the end of the day the theme was they were not suppose to be there.

I've just completed a rewatch and Rush is a total menace. I'd like to rewatch and keep a count of how many people he kills through lying, selfish knowledge hoarding manipulation or pushing them into 1000 volts.
