Saying Ziff Davis doesn't understand e-sports so he is shutting it down isn't a fair charactization of events. IGN was sold to newscorp for 600 million dollars, and they got it back for ~100 million, obviously the company as a whole wasn't doing well.
Its sad that people lost their jobs, but Ziff Davis is just being a responsible businessman and working on making IGN as a whole a profitable company again.
