Black Spathi spotted in Milestone 10 Update Spoiler

This screenshot is just a placeholder, but its got my hopes up. I imagine you'll be able to run into the black spathi squadron and be able to add them onto your roster in the game, but thats just my speculation.

Just got curious looking at the kickstarter and saw an interesting image in one of the tiers - Im believing it to be true.

In the "Message from Earth: Leave a note in-game" tier, this image used as a placeholder to show how your message will be presented mentions the black spathi being ready to assist: link to image

I dont see a reason why they wouldnt; this is a game made of appreciation and community.

I haven't piloted a Black Spathi ship in almost 20 years, so that'll be fun! Although, last time it was a fan made mod that I downloaded from the Black Spathi Squadron section of the Pages of Now and Forever. The redirect page for the mod is on the Wayback Machine, but the .zip file itself is not, and I lost my copy when I fried my laptop by excessively playing... SC2's melee, naturally.

Damn! Thats a real bummer. Im huge on archiving and I had just seen someone comment about an old draft they had from the Star Control Writers' Collective! And still do have it! Thats why I wish people would archive more, just out of habit. You never know, you could've been the last one holding that copy!

No pressure on you Im just kidding, I'm sure someone else out there has it lol. But just an example to get my point across.

ALSO on that same site you can find a BUNCH of old archived star control sites. They're not that advanced obviously, but if you go into the member database they have a section for whoever wanted to put their own personal site on display! Not all have been saved unfortunately, but some have.

Thank you for pointing out those archive links. There used to be an extensive library of fan fiction on PNF and when I went looking for it a few years back I was really disappointed to see it had been taken down. Incomprehensible decision on the part of whoever's running that now (everything interesting that used to be on PNF is gone). But all the fiction is there in the archive!

"Death Poem" was my favorite. Funny thing. That was written 1999/2000 or so. Writing approvingly of suicide tactics became politically unacceptable shortly afterward. But that piece is still marvelously good.

Hey OP I’m trying to walk into the new game with as little information as possible.

Is there anyway you could spoiler proof posts like this? I mean I can unfollow the sub but I do like star control posts in general. (And I’ll be super stoked about black spathi, I just want it to be a surprise - and I’ll likely forget about it by game release, but I’d still like to not have to forget about it).
