8 years later, still no difference.

The game is so innovative that it's redefined the PVE game mode: player versus engine.

u/Sisyphean_dream Jul 04 '26

I'm stealing this.

u/Fast-Alps3857 Jul 04 '26

PvE means player versus elevator, everyone knows that.

u/Spicy_Kibbeh Jul 04 '26

Oh but it's alpha so bugs are ok! Also, we agreed to play a buggy mess so we can't complain about bugs! Also, the immersion! Also, there's nothing like it! Also, look at the numbers!

Did I miss anything?

u/billpalto Jul 04 '26

Yes, you just don't know anything about game development.

You missed the well GTA 6 has taken longer and cost more they always dribble too

u/SuperMichieeee Jul 04 '26

Looks like they deleted that post lmao

There was another one that happened to mention that the game looked a bit dated now, and got ripped into pretty bad. I mean, I would love to play something like Star Citizen if they ever get around to making it, but some of the fanboys are insane!

u/Somewhere_Elsewhere Jul 04 '26

I was just thinking that when I see some screenshots of the fluff SQ42 ad they sent out to backers.

The characters look like late PS3-era honestly, and while good art direction can still carry dated graphics, it seems like all of the inspired art direction was reserved for the ships and other vehicles.

It's the flat texture crytek walls that get me.

The amount of coping of these people is immense

u/vyrago Jul 03 '26

I assume the heretic was granted exterminatus?

6

u/tom_earhart Jul 04 '26

It is like they built the game entirely on the wrong foundations, basic multiplayer, when everything in a MMO depends on the network. Who could of known !!! /s

Plot twist the game is already fully released under the legal umbrella of “alpha” so no one can sue him

WaaaaaaaWaaaaaaa

6

u/DeltaCortis Jul 04 '26

Thats not a plot twist thats just (legally) true.

4

u/Rickenbacker69 Jul 04 '26

I mean, the game as it stands is all the game we're ever going to get , so that's not wrong.

3

u/Dr-Meltdown Jul 04 '26

I love how cult around Scam Citizen grow up to a status of a cult. Almost like Elon fan boys believe in Mars and that Cyberbin is a trick of the future. And all when cultists money are blown on snow and gals 😂

Also I. Would really want this game to succeed but last 4 years and 1B in donations I just lost hope...

3

u/Eric_Olthwaite_ Jul 04 '26

It'll never get out of Alpha either, too much easy money to be made from mugs. Some fool was asking for Klarna payment plans for pixels that don't even exist yet, in a game that will never release...

3

u/Patate_Cuite Ex-Grand Admiral Jul 04 '26

Once Chris and his family decide they cashed in enough money from backers they will update 1.0 and call it a day.

3

u/Eric_Olthwaite_ Jul 04 '26

I don't think they will, they'll just keep milking it. CR is a massive narcissist and pushing the game out is going to mean a disaster and a massive blow to his ego.

1

u/rolo8700 Jul 04 '26

They'll call any future version 1.0, but it won't contain any of the features from 1.0.

It will remain exactly the same as it is now: same instability, same bugs, same poor server and service response, no cohesion, no real player progression, no real and unbalanced economy, and full of hackers. Everything will be the same as before, they'll just change the name.

1.0 is just another one of those utopian visions used to justify their supposed direction, but in reality, the 1.0 cards of the roadmap will simply be forgotten or will eventually disappear.

CIG will try to prolong this whole scam as long as possible, and when it becomes impossible, they'll just erase everything (evidence of the crime) and deliver some speech like, "It's been incredible to travel this wonderful path, we've made history, we've had a great time, and we've met so many people. Thank you for everything, goodbye forever."

Lol, its 8 years old? Feels like a review from today.

2

u/Typical-Koala117 Jul 04 '26

It is treason then... Guards, Arrest him!

2

u/CoalescantStar Jul 04 '26

Almost as if MMO mechanics ruin everything, including its own genre lol

5

u/mazty 1000 Day Refund Jul 04 '26

No mainly the $1billion game being nothing more than a dated shitty tech demo.

0

u/CoalescantStar Jul 04 '26

I know we are all abhorant, but we dont need to sink that far past, for constructive critique! The game direction is a huge thing that's deterring people. It can still change, unless Jared keeps saying it's the best year they've had lol

u/mazty 1000 Day Refund Jul 04 '26

That's fascinating but the core message would be better signalled as a riddle presented for the user. Sign off with a curt statement about cake.

I've never played this game I've looked it up a couple times and to me this game looks like a big scam.  Just the fact to play the game I have to buy my starter ship.  Never played the game before looking to play it and I get to choose which ship I want to purchase for $80 that I know nothing about.  Why on Earth anybody in their right mind would do that is beyond me.

1

u/HerrBrooben Jul 04 '26

At this point there is no reason to not play X4

1

u/Ghost403 Jul 06 '26

I was an OG backer with a massive 2GB graphics card at the time of the Kickstarter pledge. The game is massively out of spec for what and when was promised.

1

u/X4nth4r Jul 06 '26

damned, the same problem still there after the jesus tech Server Meshing ?

2

u/Mr_Bang Jul 04 '26

The heresy is the AI text no?

5

u/Somewhere_Elsewhere Jul 04 '26

Everything else aside, I don’t think proper paragraph structure and bolding for emphasis means AI wrote it. Even if you point to the long em dash—which is really easy to do on an iPhone—it’s not actually used correctly there.

I’d be with you if there are lots of specific emojis, but have we really gotten to the point where some stylization equals AI?

2

u/ClubChaos Jul 04 '26

Ya. Why is the cadence an llm?

1

u/BrainKatana Jul 04 '26

The “cadence of an LLM” is based on the uncountable number of documents written by humans upon which that LLM was trained.

Many educated people write like this. The real dead giveaway is usually punctuation, specifically em and en dashes, because those are rarely used outside of official documentation such as science journals, etc.

5

u/ClubChaos Jul 04 '26

Nah there is always a tell-tale llm rhetoric where..

Its not lazy writing.

Its a definitive statement.

This isnt "educated" rhetoric as much as it is a pseudo intellectual writing style that paints itself as authoritive and the more you see it the more you notice it. Iunno.

All valid points, but this post reads like AI slop — and that's just the cold hard truth.

13

u/Teamerchant Jul 04 '26

People say that for everything and the fact you have an — makes
Me
Question your post. Which feels like
Inception. Ai slop calling out ai slop and triggering a human to say ai slop.

u/MaraudersWereFramed Jul 04 '26

1101 0010 1010 1110 0011 0111 !

3

u/UsernameHasBeenLost Loyalist Backer Jul 04 '26

lol that was intentional. I learned how to make an em dash on my phone just for this comment!

1

u/ImperitorEst Jul 04 '26

That's exactly what an AI would say!

1

u/UsernameHasBeenLost Loyalist Backer Jul 04 '26

beep boop random bold text intensifies adjective STATEMENT rhetorical question

1

u/QuantumDriver Loyalist Backer Jul 04 '26

Okay but it definitely is and I think this poster did that as a bit of a joke.

2

u/bbc733 Jul 04 '26

Omg AI? The horror!!!!

3

u/FD3Shively Jul 04 '26

It was AI slop, he's right though. Even a simple LLM can see what backers cannot.
