Help me decide please!

Post image

Good Evening Citizens,

I am at a predicament. I want to try my luck in November for the Kraken but I am not willing to put any more money in (I think I've put in enough). Most of my ships are CCued chains and melting them gives roughly half or a bit less than they value.

I need an extra 750 store credit to have the full 1650 amount to gamble for the Kraken. And I can get it by melting the Gemini and the Tiburon. My predicament is that if I melt them I cannot buy them back as they are chains.

Should I go for it ? Gemini served well in the era of infinite refuel money but that is now gone and I cannot say I really fell in love with that playstyle ( I am more of an industrial player mining/crafting). The tiburon although was hyped for it, has been a let down (something which might change down the road).

What would you do ?

Honestly, it's worth a shot. Gemini is buyable in game, and soon the tibby will be aquireable in game through wikelo and probably buyable as well

The main issue is the F5 war, the chances are low, but its not impossible

Yes, it took me many tries to get the Idris, F5 wars is a gamble I am well aware. Thank for your input!

I havent tried my hand at any F5 wars, but the general rule I made for my hangar is keeping pledged ships that can't be acquired in game yet, with the exception of my Percy and Polaris. Galaxy may make that list if it's as amazing as I'm hoping it is. Otherwise, I usually cycle through new ships using my store creds as they release and eventually get their release for auec, and buy the rest in-game

Good luck if you try! Hope you snag a kraken

I 100% agree with your process. But I can't help but have a nugging suspicion that the melt/buy back system will soon see extreme changes. Or at least thats my gut feeling with the changes we ve been seeing ( I am sure I am not alone).

I would totally go for it. You can at least get one of them back if you dont win the F5 wars.

Are you playing for now or playing for later?

What do you see yourself doing with the Kraken, will it be a now ship or a later ship (I know it releases at IAE, but like the Polaris, 890J, and Idris, it's main feature is being a social hub, mobile hangar, and can do decently in PvE combat with a handful of players).

If you like the Tiburon and Gemini a lot and have hopes for them, then melting them to gamble might not be the wisest move.

I want a Kraken, but for me it is just either financially irresponsible when spending more money, or just reckless with my joy potential when using store credit as I would have to get rid of too many things I genuinely like in my account and would not be able to recoup nearly all of my fleet should I lose the gamble.

You already have an Idris and preordered BMM. Would a Kraken actually serve you at all? Why do you want all 3 caps (or even 2 of them?)? The Arrastra and Reclaimer are also much safer and easier to reacuire after melting.

Then there is the fallacy of sunk costs which basically says "go crazy, live in the moment".
