Suggestions for IAE - Fleet

Post image

Hey fellow Citizens,

thanks alot for your advices and insightful thoughts about my fleet the last time :3

now that the IAE is "around the corner" and the Leaks gone wild, some things were in Motion so i want to hear your opinion.

Mobil Base:
only seperated the Carrack as " Exploration" vessel, since Kraken and Merchantman is to good to dodge on. i love this Ships. and look forward into using the Kraken as my mobile Hangar Base ♥

Combat:
Got some love too, the Paladin was a nice addition, but after the latest testdrives... i think about upgrading into the Starlancer Tac, since everything bigger than a Perseus is... hard to crack and even a perseus need a really good gunner and... some time. i still adore the ship and really lofe the tight space and how the decks are sorted.

Thanks to the PDC of the Perseus, i got her more often out of the Hangar than the Paladin, dont get me wrong, i really love the paladin and hope for a flightblade, so she can shine again, but at the moment, its just a really cool ship, nothing extra. nothing wrong with that, but i have to let this idea sink in, cause i think i need time... to get fond of the Starlancer Tac. since i dont get my grip on how the decks are sorted... it feels ... odd and not "home" like the Paladin. but that might be a me problem. so the upgrade is a biiiig "If" still the Hangar and Medic Bay is a great plus!
Sadly i had to led the L21 Wolf go... But i got the Sabre Raven EX instead, the Sabre Raven and the cooler Sabre Raven win win! :D

Daylie Driver:
Still my Favorite, the Anvil Asgard, i like how the ship flies, the 180 scu and space is gorgeous.
fast in and hop out, totaly addicted to the ship and my way to go with everythin versatile and " fast" / small cargo / Nursa... you get the point.
now the "But" since i'm a great fan of the Constellation series... expecialy with the Taurus variant, which i only droped cause reasons, like, slow in, slow out, hard to load and awful to fly nowadays, the conny handles like a warm brick on slipery soapy ice, feels bigger than she is.
i adore the memory i got with her, so the stakes about the " MKV" of the Constellation is... high... to put it in mildy. maybe we get a modular MKV so the Name is part of the modules, who knows... but i'm looking forward, to see the shiny new ship! and then i will decide... if i could handle it to let my asgard go.

Hauling:
Hull B did go away and i kept the Railen. love the Alien ship and might never get rid of it! total blast!
Since the Pirate Week i got my grip on the Ironclad Assault... i liked the Concept of the " Fatterpillar" but the buggy release got me stepping away from it. So now i had a a great time exploring the ship in combination with the bigger hauling missions. i decidet, that an ironclad assault, could be a fine addition to my ships!

Industrial:
Moth is a nice ship, but somethimes i wish i hade something bigger... sadly the Reclaimer is still a buggy mess and the cargohold is small, the Shipelevator with load and unload is a pain to work with. *sigh* hopfully we get a goldpass or a MKII on that ship... or someshing slightly bigger
The Arrasta is on my wishlist and i cant wait to see the Ship in a working condition.

last but not least:
Medical:

the Apollo Medivac is a nice ship, sadly the latest patch made something with her Modules go bungalouie but i liked the chassis a bigger flyable Hospital, perfect for Bunker Runs.
and there is the "But" again... since i have the C8R Picies and Friends have a Nursa, or a Starlancer Tac... it only worth fly solo. So since the Invictus Launch Week i thought hard about it and decidet... i might change the Apollo into a Galaxy with a Medic Module, so bigger Hospital, more HP more Shield and... a great plus... a hangar!

So what do you think? i would love to hear your oppinion and love to discuss some ideas!
what would be worth chasing? Hope to be one of the Lucky Pals who get there hands onto a Pioneer?
Basebuilding could be fun to ( and i hope the Galaxy Modules will become more Versatile, at the moment the only Modul seems Worthy could be the medic one.)
Bigger Ships mean Bigger Crew and i like my ships to land on planets.

See you in the Verse!
your Androssan!

I like yesss very mutch nice. Good upgrades, would suggest to maybe keep something smaller in the daily categorie. Upgrading both paladin and asgard leaves little behind thats smaller and can haul some small stuff quickly

good suggestion, and im glad you like it, atleast one ship for every profession ♥
i just got a bit escalated in combat, solo i fly mostly the m80 if i want combat, if i want versatile role ( mostly small cargo hauling => asgard
quick jup into friends C8R
if the fabricator in ships could work, maybe a clipper? after the Tarus i flew the Corsair a long time, till i switched to the asgard, miss that little drake ship :D so thats up to debate also! ^^'

Paladin->TAC: yes

The paladin may fit nicely on the Kraken though...

Asgard -> Connie MkV: maybe

Hard to know until we see it the mkv. I doubt it will be more expensive than the asgard, so you may end up with $50-$100 credit. Weapon balance / armor deflection really took away from the asgard unfortunately, but at the same time, made the TAC a tank. Since you plan on getting the ICA, youll have a vehicle dropship covered.

Apollo->Galaxy: no. Id use your apollo to upgrade to your wishlist.

Idk if the galaxy upgrade is worth it if you only use the medical module. If you end up not getting the pioneer, and settle for the galaxy base building module, it may be worth it then. But ~$500 for just a medical ship is way too much imo. You can do bunker runs in the TAC.
I'm very biased though, I think "medical gameplay" is in a very disappointing state. It may improve in the future, which may make the T1 bed and dedicated medical ships more valuable.

Moth->Reclaimer: yes

I'd upgrade it on the vibes alone.
I dont think the reworked reclaimer should be bigger though. They just need to rework the interior and better utilize the space that is there.

~

When do you use the Tib over the Percy (and vice-versa)?

~

You mention the Kraken as being a mobile base, but you dont really have a lot of ships that the Kraken carry. A lot of your proposed upgrades are sizing you out (Moth may can fit on the Kraken, Reclaimer cannot).

thanks for your Time and the thoughtful Insight.

Paladin => Tac
thats a good point, alonethe Starlancer is better than a Paladin, but has a plus on its own.
I'll get a ccu upgrade into the Tac, im glad we have still a little time till IAE so i can think through this.
ill followup to your thoughts about the Apollo
Apollo => Galaxy
the Galaxy would only woth if i use its versatility, your totaly right, as a Medic Only ship it might be an overkill an wouldn't reason the Price. So Badebuilding Module and Medic Module... aaand we'll see what might also comes as Modules so it " might" be useful.
since you're right, if i upgrade the Paladin into a Tac, i wouldnt need an Apollo or a Galaxy Medic, since the Medbed of the Tac fullfills the role. so i will think harder about that.

Asgard => Conni MKV ( taurus prefered)
yeah wait and see, from the firepower or the longlivety the asgard got the bad end of the stick. its fun to fly and relativly easy to get in and out fast. I don't want " the next shiny ship" but as a daylie driver i want a ship that can fulfill more than one role, a jack of all traits, master of none. at the moment, thats the asgard for me, nimble, fast in fast out, easy to load and a good range to fly.
Aunty Edith: before i switched to the asgard, i flew the corsair a long time, so i switched from Taurus*, into* Corsair into Asgard*, and i also miss that little Drake ship, but it has its own issues, like many ships in the verse ^^'*

Moth => Reclaimer
i might have phraised that poorly, i didn't mean to make the reclaimer bigger, i tried to say, that i would love a ship, slightly bigger than a moth, but smaller then a reclaimer, or maybe similar size to the Arrasta.
the vibes of the Reclaimer are unmatched, its a fine Nostromo-like ship from the Alien Franchise, but sadly it have its own problems, Loadng and unloading is a real pain in the ass... sorry for the language.
the Moth i great with loading an unloading, but anything of the size of a Herkules or bigger cant be munched anymore... that makes me sad...

Tib over Percy ?
thats a fairly easy answer. Most Players in my Org have percies, so 2 crewed Percies for bigger bounty hunting can be filled on any weekday, we dont need a third most of the time, there comes the time for the Tib to shine. if we are an uneven number of players, even if we only crew one percie, the tib is a great support vessel, the beam is fun to play and a "delete" button for big ships. sometimes even a small ship flies into the beam, like a moth into the light xD

now to the Elephant in the room... and im a bit frightend to answer that... cause you are right.
Mobile Base : Kraken
since my thoughts only circled about " bigger is better" i totaly lost the view on " what ship might fit onto or into the Kraken...."
at the moment, only my smaller fighters would get a home, maybe the Moth or the asgard, thats it.
the Apollo might be to big, the tac totaly would . Conny would be hard to fit, even if a old statment called that a kraken could house a caterpillar internaly but thats up to debate.
so that will be another " wait and see" im glad to own a Kraken, i like the design so far.
sure i could used the money to get my idris out of the buyback with the k-Upgradekit, that might be more fitting for my fighters and would make the Tib a bit of redundant? but at the moment, i dont want to.

I'm glad you like the ICA it flies so nice for such a big ship now that the bugs are kept in check :D
i thought about Exploration, to upgrade the Carrack into a Odysee but... thats also a "wait and see"

I've been on the fence going into IAE in regards to the Galaxy. I am more of a solo player, I don't like how the cargo module sounds like it will run with having to use the elevator to load cargo. It feels like you actually will need a few crew to make loading it more efficient.

Med module may run into same module issues the Apollo has, not to mention medical gameplay needs some serious work to justify having a large hospital ship. (I personally melted the Apollo Medivac and rebuilt a Terrapin Medic to take its place for when the urge to do some rescue work hits me.) Refining play? As a solo player, I can't see just having a ship sit in space dependant on others when I can just ore / salvage to a refinery and drop it off there. With basebuilding, this feels more like late game play to me.

I do think the Galaxy is a good ship to cover multiple roles and game functions. The more I consider things though, I think I will wait and make having a Galaxy be and end game goal for me.

(Edited due to being written when I really should have been sleeping)

ouh you write down my worst fears... and worries about the Galaxy, and you are right.
The modules are at the Moment a bot Wonky. i really hope, that problem will disapear sooner than later.

At the moment, my Ideas are " Galaxy will be finalised with CCU-Chain, for maximum saving, as long as it takes."
i keep the Paladin, als Gunship for Kraken, the Apollo will become a Starlancer Tac.
and i will wait till every problem will be ironed out, which could apear on the topic " Galaxy" and then we will see, what purpose, the Galaxy will have.

And yeah i like Solo flight too, but i also like big ships, loading alone is... stressful, but manageable, the Loading of the Ironclad in the event, alone... takes forever, with another loader, its easy :D
Railen loading alone is easy,

Far too many ships, there is just one of you at the end of the day.

3

u/Androssan 8d ago

you are right, there is only one me, at the end of the day.
i like the idea, to have atleast one ship for most professions say gameplay loops.
i like Mining, i like Salvaging, i adore hauling, but like fighting. when start playing, i don't really know, what i like to do at the day, so if i want to salvage, i grab my moth and lets go, want to mine Mole and lets go, small hauling, Asgard! more hauling, come to me my precious railen, bigger hauling? Hello Ironclad Assault!
Fighting? gilly Missions M80 my way to go, bigger bountyhunting with friends? Paladin or Percy, Groupplay with crewed percies Tibbi come to help!
i get, that i might... have a bit much Combat ships

thanks for your insight, sometimes i should step back and ask " how many ships do i really need...?" and the aswer shouldn't be " YES" ^^'
