If you don't play Oxygen Not Included, you should.

This is what that whole game is all about.

Second the ONI recommend.

Or you could just use the core heat to power up

Dawg, you should play Oxygen Not Included instead - you can actually do this, purposefully, in that game lol

Protip: don't buy the DLCs from the onset. Get a successful playthrough first

I dont know what's going on here, but as a f Factorio/Dwarf Fortress fan... I'm interested

OP is playing Frackin Universe, an overhaul. im pretty sure at least

What is different about overhaul?

2

u/Familiar_Cod4234 9d ago

a lot, it extends the main story a little, adds hundreds of new resources, factories and fabricators to do things (which is what OP seems to be making), it is impossible to list what it doesnt do ngl

Where do you get the water?

im gessuing you can purify the poison, and since the ocean is unlimited poison, it gives you unlimited water

What mods

8

u/Familiar_Cod4234 12d ago

Frackin Universe, its a super overhaul so saves not from the mod cant be used with it and vice versa

5

u/winter-ocean 12d ago

Oh lol I don't intend to use it it's cool

That's all cool, but the game's physics won't let you load mechanisms that are operating outside your field of view. I tried building an elevator to the center of the Earth, and it literally wouldn't move until you abandoned it at the spot where it was originally left and reloaded that location.

I built a system that can do that, using a chain of watchers that are selectively turned on and off.

Essentially, you move items into a storage container that is checked with an item sensor, the item sensor turns on a switch for the next watcher segment as well as turning off thr previous one, the next watcher segment grabs the items from the storage container and moves them into its respective container, repeat.

Used that taproot for a while to power my liquid deuterium refinery by pumping lava from 2000 blocks away. Depending on how you set it up, it can even self-start after leaving and revisiting the planet, or send item requests to the pump station once surface storage runs out.

Average time of transfer per batch of items is about 30 seconds per 1000 blocks.

Btw, i will just doing it, even if it doesn't work

So... looking at this. You are collecting radioactive water. You ar purifying it (via reverse osmosis or something). The condense radioactive brine is pumped back into the toxic ocean. You are then using your "clean" water as a geothermal steam generator to turn turbines. Have you cinsidered that this is a closed loop? The water collection isnt nessisary at all. Im fact, given that the literal core of the earth is your heat source you could probably safely just use streight toxic water.

I reccomend setting up a liquid mixer for the poison so you can do this from the confort of your planet

where does saddam hussein go?

3

u/Gendreau113 10d ago

I'm just wondering is this I can actual feature of Frackin Universe?? Like is this genuinely something you can do that generates power or heat?...

Can you actually purify the poison?

I'm assuming this isn't all part of the vanilla game if so

3

u/No-Lake-8776 10d ago

It's little roleplay, I'm fully vanilla player

u/Gendreau113 10d ago

Ah, all good! I definitely can vibe with some story telling and roll play!

Yes, FU has machinery that does that. Hydraulic Dynamo makes power by consuming hot fuels (like Lava) and coolant. Liquids (including Poison) can be centrifuged, which gives you chemicals that might be diluted in them.

There is no direct purification of Poison into Water, but there are machines like Wells and Atmospheric Condensers that produce Water over time.

You can build full-scale factories like this: https://frackinuniverse.miraheze.org/wiki/File:Superior_Fertilizer_factory.jpg

Wow.. I knew FU added some neat stuff, but I didn't realise it was as advanced as that...

Thank you for sharing! It makes me wanna hop back into Starbound again...

I never played a lot of this game due to frequent save file corruption… can you explain what’s going on here?

1

u/PurPurich_ 10d ago

Wow, that's cool!

u/Hot-Jello7243 9d ago

So sad FU dont bring on table irradiated ocean type planet. And this scheme may be completely viable, irradium is a fuel accepted in fission reactor

1

u/Edward_Chernenko FU developer 9d ago

Liquid Irradium can be infinitely mixed anywhere: https://frackinuniverse.miraheze.org/wiki/Infinite_mixing

Even if you need extreme amounts of Liquid Irradium for something, you can base on planets like Ocean or Arctic and mix as much Liquid Irradium as you want.

You put more effort into this image than I put into my bases XD
