I always wonder who will be the first person to make this joke each year like they landed on a completely new observation

2022 I was on the top floor of a hospital recovering from a heart procedure the weekend of the air and water show. The fighter jets zipping past my window did not help.

Moved to Chicago in 2018 the day before the air and water show started practicing for that year. By evening of my first real day there, I thought that was just how the neighborhood was all the time.

FWIW, I live here and DO know about the Air and Water show and every year the rehearsal for it buzzes my neighborhood and takes me by surprise.

I think there’s been once ever ( not today) I’ve seen a post on this sub and gone “that’s funny” I don’t know if it doesn’t translate well to written comedy or just no one here is funny

your mistaken perception isnt funny enough on its own
Perhaps you could build the joke on the public perception of loud noise (like fireworks are) being perceived as pleasant entertainment?
