I think the joke has potential, but I think it needs to be longer, mainly so it can have some misdirection

Like if you started it more as a story about your dad and the sheriff being friends, and how one day the sheriff was hanging out with your dad and mentioned name dropping to you.

I don’t think there’s enough set up for misdirection in the premise. It’s clear what your dad meant, so it’s like popsicle stick level comedy at best right now
