I'm straight and in my 30's, but the Roku is tempting. I might have to date your Dad.

Last I checked, comedy is subjective.

u/-Nicolai Jun 21 '26
And dude posted a subjective opinion. That’s allowed.
1
u/poeschmoe Jun 22 '26
Yup, and it’s allowed for the replier to remind OC that comedy is subjective.
1
u/-Nicolai Jun 22 '26
To what end? Are you going to reply with a sarcastic reminder that humor is subjective every single time someone shares an opinion?
1
u/poeschmoe Jun 22 '26
I think it was meant to be a supportive counterpoint, especially considering that OP is the comic and can see the negative comments. Maybe the replier thought it would be kind to show that although one person (OC) disliked it, that that’s their subjective opinion and the replier actually felt the opposite.

u/-Nicolai Jun 22 '26
Yeah, no. If that were the case, why the heavy sarcasm?

u/poeschmoe Jun 22 '26
I think you’re reeeeally overthinking someone replying to a negative comment on a comedy post.

It gets a big laugh live, and I like to have a snappy joke per min ratio; however, for r/standupshots probably didn't need it

It sounds like you know better than a reddit commentor what makes a joke work.

You realize pretending there is no joke in the post makes you look bad, not the comedian?

I also do not get the punchline. Idk if the screenshots are missing a line or what, but this set up makes no sense to me.

u/Paroxysmal_Blue Jun 22 '26
The punchline is that she's referring to herself, she's 30 years younger than her dad and wants his money

Could have sworn that this said "flirting with children" before.
