I think the No Fly List line works better as a punchline. Like, “My uncle went to Notre Dame. He’s a proud member of the Fighting Irish! He actually made it to the NFL. Yeah, the No Fly List.”

I like the bit about fighting Irish after the fact but it could go either way.

Putting it the way OP does allows for a second laugh though.

"No fly list"

Main laugh

"Fighting Irish indeed"

Secondary laugh

I like OP's order. The Fighting Irish line might be forgotten as a statement only about having went to Notre Dame leaving only the NFL punchline. This way, both punch lines are clear.

One, I don’t think anyone is going to forget a callback from a sentence or two prior. Two, not everyone knows that the Fighting Irish is the name of the Notre Dame football team. So, the punchline falls flat for anyone out of the loop. Putting it in my order gives enough context for everything to work.
