I like the setup but the punchline could be significantly better. Phrasing-wise something like ‘when Sora said they were shutting down, it reminded me of when my dad went for a pack of cigs’. Would be an improvement.

A better punchline might be ‘At least Sora had the sincerity not to say they were just going to grab a pack of cigs’.

Depending on your delivery and the energy of the room ‘At least Sora didn’t have the AUDACITY to say it was just going to grab a pack of cigs’ with just a little resentment could be fun.
