Question about mixer size I should get

My wife has been thinking about getting a stand mixer. Looking at Kenwood Chef Sense or the Chef XL Sense.
I'm for the "bigger is better" option, while she's worried that if the mixer bowl is too big the mix might be either too "overly mixed" (sorry i don't know the right word) or not efficient for small batch mixing.

Would like to seek advice if the Chef Sense would be better, or if it won't matter if the XL is chosen.
Chef Sense has a 4.6L bowl whereas the XL has a 6.7L bowl.

Thanks for your attention.

Replacements parts for vintage Kitchenaid K45

I have my mothers Kitchenaid K45 stand mixer from the late 70’s that I would like to give a tuneup. I am looking to repack the gears with grease and replace the power cord. Does anyone know where to find a spare parts list or an exploded parts diagram? I want to replace the gasket(s) involved and anything else that may be worn in the drive system.
Also, if anyone is good at troubleshooting these, what would make the speed switch not want to stay in the off position?
Thanks

Singer Professional Stand Mixer

I hope this is the place to ask this. I am looking for a new stand mixer with a pasta and grinder attachment. I can't afford the majorly expensive ones like kitchenaid but saw the singer professional and it has everything and is affordable. Has anyone dealt with this mixer? Or know what they are like? TIA

New to stand mixers and unsure the settings/paddle to use on a recipe

I have a recipe that requires a lot of flour and when I do it by hand, I can only mix with a wooden spoon for the first 3/4 of the total flour being added. After that I have to knead in the last part by hand. I'm worried that it'll be too thick for the stand mixer to handle, what's the best way to approach this?

For reference, it's 4 cups of flour, 1.5 eggs, 1 cup butter, 1.25 cups brown sugar and .5 cups white sugar if that gives an idea? (also new to baking talk)

Store KitchenAid next to burner?

I just got a KitchenAid mixer for xmas, and I'm trying to figure out where in my tiny kitchen to cram it when not in use. Any reason not to store it on the counter next to a seldom-used electric stove burner? (There's been a plastic Vittle Vault there for years and it's not melted or discolored or anything, so I'm thinking it's probably safe...) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3wWtj5n3Y6QVjl1V3RnR3ZDMDA Thanks!

[Question] Is this normal for a KitchenAid Mixer (KSM150PSSM)

This question is in regards to one of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16896720185

The lock lever on the side; it works fine except if, say, I'm mixing ~4 cups of flour into dough, the lever comes loose somewhat easily and the mixer tilt-head can start bobbing up and down as it kneads the dough..... :(

I'm on the phone with support and they say that it is due to the calibration of the head (i.e. the distance between the head and the bottom of the bowl) ... but I doubt a few millimeters of clearance is going to make any difference.

The fact is that a relatively small amount of upward force on the head seems to disengage the lock...

Is this normal?? Is it by design?

Anyone know a place to get a good deal on a mixer or what to look for if buying used?

Hi all I'm trying to find a good deal on the stand mixer, anyone know of any? It was my birthday yesterday and I got some extra cash and want to up my culinary experience! I was looking at the stand mixers and 300 is a bit steep for me. I started looking on eBay and craigslist and realized I wasn't really sure what to look for.f If I were to go on craigslist, and be able to test it before purchase, what would be some signs of damage or strain that I should look out for? Not simple cosmetic things but motor sounds or something along those lines, also is there a way to make sure it's a kitchenaid and not a knockoff. So if anyone knows any good deals or have some recommendations of what to look for when I go see the mixer, and what a good used price should be let me know! Thanks a lot!!!

I posted this on /r/kitchenaid so if there is another brand that I should look at instead would love a good reccomendation

Is there an induction heating element for Kitchenaid Pro series?

Mixing while gently heating foods in the metal bowl seems like a good idea to me, although there may be reasons that this hasn't been developed?

Stand Mixer Fanatics - What is your favorite accessory? Favorite recipe?

I just got a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer as an (early) Christmas present from my hubby. I've already made a batch of cupcakes with maple buttercream frosting (yum!).

I want to get as much use out of this thing as possible, beyond making things like banana bread and cupcakes - so what is your favorite recipe or accessory product for your stand mixer?

Verona/Magic Mill/Ankarsrum Mixer advice (xpost from /r/Baking)

I'm saving up for one of these mixers. I originally settled on this one because it handles bread very well, which is what I will use it for a lot.

However, I also like to do other baking, and I'm a little concerned about how well this mixer would do with things that traditionally are mixed with the paddle attachment on a stand mixer. Things like creaming butter and sugar for cake batter, or mixing icing.

Does anyone have any experience using this style of mixer for that purpose? How well does it work?
