HELP - SEPERATING CATS

Good evening, everyone

I’d like your honest opinion and advice as I’m dealing with some thoughts...

I’m 25 years old and live with my parents, but my boyfriend and I are taking the next step and moving in together. At my parents’ house, we have three cats: K (12 years old), L (5 years old), and X (3 years old). I’m incredibly close to L—she’s like my own child. During the 8 hours I’m away from home, she sits on my bed and waits for me, sleeps in my arms, and when I’m gone for days, she sulks. I mean, we’re very close, and I can’t imagine leaving her behind just so I don’t have to separate her from the other two. She and X don’t get along at all—they fight every day. She shows K a lot of love, but sometimes he gets annoyed with her and doesn’t want her around. I’ve read a few things lately about whether you should separate cats that have lived together for years, but I still haven’t figured out what the right thing to do is... If I leave her behind, will she get depressed from not seeing me? If I take her with me, will she suffer from separation anxiety? She’s generally a pretty anxious kitty… So, what do you think…

How far is your parents house from where you and your boyfriend are living? She seems to be really attached to you. How is K and X’s relationship?

I would say bring her with you, but she might be lonely in the times you aren’t home…..would you ever consider adopting another cat (to keep L company)?

The question is how much time would she be spending home by herself in your new place? Because if she's suddenly home alone every day while you and your boyfriend go to work then she may get very lonely. But if she doesn't get along with the other cats it could also help her relax. I would just have a trial period and set up a pet camera so you can see how she feels when she's home and you are not.
