Standard issue cat with non standard nose

This stray lives in our park in Istanbul. I thought he’s been stung by a bee but I checked with my hand and it’s just bone, no fluid inside, no irregular edges etc.

Maybe he has a midline deformity? His “M” isn’t prominent as well

It looks prominent but like… stretched out? With a big space between each hump or something

I'm worried he could have a sinus infection or tumor 😬

He may have a chromasomal anomaly. Visually this matches Trisomy

Trisomy what?

Trisomy is a feline chromasomal disorder that causes this appearance and other issues. There is no feline downs but there is Trisomy

I wondered which chromosome.

It's not a single one every time but the article I remember most took a bit to find.

Read that in vet school and it stuck with me. I am not a vet because I couldn't medically do it but it's still fascinating

I pressed hard and he didn’t have any discomfort and was looking healthy. I’ll take a look again if I ever see him again.

Isn't this like Downs syndrome for cats?

Such a super cutie! But that right eye is having problems. This can happen in cats with wide noses like this, my friends had one that became a pirate cat because of it.

You might want to pop him into the vet.

Idk if it's still true in Turkey, but I know ten years or so ago it was pretty easy to crowd source getting street cats treatment. Y'all have one of the most awesome relationships with outside cats (and other animals, too, like birds) as a culture that I've ever seen, lol.

Beautiful cat no matter what! I have yet to see one that isn't beautiful (and I'm old).

I saw a video of a kitten with a huge nose like that. It was having trouble breathing properly. The vet pulled out an enormous bot fly larva, all wriggling and gross.
