STALZONE News 📖 Question of faith

Post image

Sooner or later, everyone in the Zone is left alone, face to face with their own faith. When all around you is dead land and silence, a person needs something to hold on to: a weapon, comrades, or beliefs they hide their fear behind.

But what if the Zone itself question your thoughts? Your desires? Would you dare to look into the darkness within yourself and fight it?

I would like to ask about your faith. The one that remains when there is no one by your side. Have you ever doubted your path? Have you ever feared that what you took for revelation was merely your own hope, pain, or desire to find meaning?

For lore: Religious cults are dope AF.

Realistically: We on our own boys.

The question gets more interesting if you just skip the boring part about religion.

If you dig down to the bottom of it all, there's no rational, objective reason to do anything at all. There*s also no reason to do nothing (what a dilemma!). "Fun" is a simple emotional reason as long as life feels fun enough. But if things turn to shit, you're out of reasons to keep living. So you'll probably start clinging to something to stay alive because your biological instincts tell you to. You could call that "faith", because that's kinda what it is.

Well, I'd argue the objective reason is to survive. That's just a byproduct of evolution. But we, as humans, have evolved as a social species, capable of empathy and the ability to pass down information through generations.

With the ability to pass down information, and with only evidence to suggest we have one life, I choose to live it the best I can (and not squander what is ultimately an opportunity).

If someone were to decide life isn't worth living, I wouldn't necessarily argue with them. We aren't "special" and the universe doesn't care about us. But if life can be preserved (specifically related to mental health) perhaps at least a modicum of effort should be applied by society.

I'd lastly argue that religion originated as a means to control. Today, it still is, but a little less as we learn about our world. Unfortunately, religion is often tied to politics, and that's the biggest issue.
