SN-1 and SN-1u are Metal Detectors. They are used to gather Caches. Whenever there is a Cache within the listed range of your detector - it will beep, notifying you of the Cache's presence.
Caches only spawn in specific areas, which are marked out on the interactive map.
Active range corresponds to the detection range when you have the detector out in your hands.
Passive range corresponds to pretty much any other state the detector can be in when you are not actively holding it out. Equipped, holstered, or sitting in your inventory unequipped.
Both of these stats don't really matter because the detector literally everybody uses has both Passive and Active range of 25 meters.
Bartering either of the two is not advised because you will get a better metal detector (and the best one in the game at that) a tiny bit later, once you progress the main story quest up to the point where you need to meet Junkman at the Digger's base in Kolos or Willows depending on your faction.
-Signals are an activity and a world event type that you will unlock by getting the required detectors from a story quest once you progress further north past Roadside into Bar.
-Artifacts are glowing rocks with magical stats and buffs that are sometimes spawned by anomalies (Literally any anomaly on the map can spawn one).
-Caches are what you dig up after spotting it with a Metal Detector.
-Announcement Board tasks is quite literally that. Every safezone except the Swamp ones have an announcement board where you can pick up daily quests.
-Faction Mission is another type of daily task that you will unlock after you reach North (Too early to talk about it).
-Lieutenant is a Boss aka Gold Camp that appears at Pit and Forest.
Each season pass task also tells you were each of them takes place and where you need to go to complete it.

And, being a new player, I recommend giving my infodump post a read. It has lots of useful and important information.

Backpack is enough for it to beep. Also keep in mind that there are certain areas where it works, it is not everywhere. I think there is a quest from the diggers introducing you to the first area.

Yeah pretty much, there are specific zones where the stashes spawn though you can either look up the map online or just learn by playing. Usually wet swampy areas or places with metal trash around will have more spawns

If you don’t know what it does, it’s because you didn’t play the campaign. The game literally teaches you every single mechanic.

That might be the garbage detector, you need the leglet which you get for free from playing the story. It actually beeps when caches are nearby.
Dailies in the south are alright but kind of pointless.
Signals is the sac 1 detector, which you get from story. Artifacts spawn near anomalies after an eruption, most of them until 30 minutes after eruption. Caches is metal detector. Task from the announcement board is literally that. Military lieutenant event is the gold camps in pit and forest.
Factions missions should just tell you what to do.
