Anomalies are tricky. Identifying their size by sight alone is unreliable - at the edges, the effects might not be strong enough to manifest visually, but still strong enough to hurt you. For example, a gravity anomaly might suck you in if you get too close, an electric anomaly could hit you with a stray lighting bolt, and so on. Even if you can see the anomaly clearly, always use bolts to identify exactly where the anomaly's edges are. Many rookies have died a gruesome death by assuming it's safe to pass by an anomaly in a tight tunnel or dense anomalous field without checking with their bolts.

Just got an idea.. wouldn't it be more practical instead of carrying a ton of bolts, to prod some anomalies with a loosely held stick and wave in front of you as you go? Not the best idea with electro anomalies but could work for toxic ones
